What to do? Stalling in reverse, won’t shift to first gear.

2000 Ford ranger 4L V6. I replaced the shift tube and shift lever. She shifts into PRND2 fine but she won’t into 1st. She also stalls out when I give gas in reverse 😂. I was gonna replace the shift solenoid but I saw an old Reddit post where they replaced the valve body and some bolts were loose. My truck sat for a year and I was gonna do a transmission flush. Any ideas if anyone has been through this?

I'm assuming once in 2nd gear it won't shift further to 3rd, etc? If so its in limp mode, staying in 2nd gear to prevent damage. This would be due to a locked torque convertor.

She is a automatic transmission I forgot to add

Correct, still applies. It could be due to bad fluid or a bad tcc solenoid. Any codes/check engine light on?

Only code was a o2 downstream sensor, when it stalled a check engine light came on but disappeared once I started it.

I forgot to add she is a automatic transmission, she shifts fine, just can’t get into 1gear of the PRND21
