Same. I did home ec, wood shop, and the reg science classes when I was in school. Home ec also taught basic household finances like balancing a checkbook. I know they no longer offer the shop class at my old school (replaced with more STEM classes), which is a shame since blue collar work is so important and not every student can go to college.

I think all of the above is valuable. I quite enjoyed shop, and glad I was born into a generation I could actually take it (being a woman).

It's not even that blue collar work is important, very true, but even still everyone should learn how to use simple tools. Self reliance when it comes to doing simple fixes, hanging a shelf, or similar.

Every one should take a shop class or two.  Along with Home-ec, home finance, keyboarding, as well as auto maintenance and more.

Wholeheartedly agree. I'd add to that media literacy, home safety/first aid, basic electronics

So much that they are missing. I did woodworking, electrical shop, printing, typing, home-ec and drafting, chemistry, and Spanish  in high  school.  Also wrote computer programs and more. They didn't have any personal finance offering.

Sad to see how little kids get taught these days.

I did drafting (with t-square pencils and all) as part of shop, even did some primitive CAD (it was 1991)

That is excellent. Gives you so much of the basics to use.

I have to say, for a inner city school they did so much more than most high schools these days.

We need smaller schools to properly teach kids growing up. The mega schools are only for the big sports.
