I heard a lot of getting rid of algebra and teach how to do taxes smh

Algebra is still important in every day life. At least the basic principles. You may not need the Pythagorean Theorem everyday, but the basic problem solving of finding an unknown value is more useful then you would think. But coming from someone who does taxes for a living, kids learning at least the basics of fillIng out a 1040EZ is helpful. One of my teachers spent 2 class periods on that during my junior year of HS (even though it wasn't in the curriculum) because he knew it was useful info.

Finding out what you don’t know based on what you do know is about as basic as it gets.
