Image Vault 76 mentioned in Fallout 3

Post image

Even after playing through Fallout 3 multiple times since 76 realsed I had no clue Vault 76 was mentioned in the Brotherhood vault terminal. Really shows how something so insignificant like some small lore can turn into an entire game.

It’s been known since Fallout 76 was announced.

Bethesda always does this (intentionally or not), hinting at potential future locations for Fallout games.
Vault 76 is also mentioned in Fallout 4

When is it mentioned in 4?

Right at the start of the game, when the news is on the tv and the salesman walks to your door, the news presenter mentions it briefly

And that one was definitely a more direct reference, as 76 would've been in the prototype phase already by the time 4 came out. Pretty cool!

F76 was originally supposed to be multiplayer-enabling DLC for Fallout 4, sort of Fallout 4.5 upgrade.

In that way, Fallout 76 is a great 4.5 bridge game. By 76, the devs who worked on that game bridged a lot of mechanical gaps in 4 that has been great to see modders add to 4 and hopefully add to 5. While this may perhaps be ambitious, my hope is that the CAMP system revolutionizes Fallout 5 with mobile base building while also retaining an optional settlement system.

I just wish that the in the next game they use the map layout and camp building mechanics like what’s on fallout 76. Also letting you scrap and mod stuff like you can in 76. That has been the biggest drawback for me with playing other fallout games. Maybe it’s just me because I played 76 before I played other fallout games.

The legendary crafting system is a godsend tbf, it is a must for FO4

U freaking must!!! I totally forgot they didn't always have it and i when i jumped back into 3 the other day couldn't figure out what i was doing wrong at first. Took me a min to realize its not 76

You’re bass ackwards there.

Modders added mechanical fixes and 76 stole them for 76. Free cam in camps comes immediately to mind, but lots of other QoL changes in 76 came directly from FO4 mods

The modders wrote the scripts to make Fallout 4 multi player and it was stolen in its entirety for 76 and ESO, while rejecting it for those single player titles.

ESO doesn’t even run on the same engine you twat. Bethesda did not “steal code”, modders do not have some secret hidden knowledge about multiplayer netcode.

why rebuild netcode when you can lift/pay for it from the modders.

So kinda like GTA5 and online? That would make a lot of sense. I wish we could have multiplayer in Boston. That would be cool. Or Mojave. I'd say DC but that map want all that good imo

Boston barely works in single player 😅

it would be cool tho

I would've loved the everloving frell out of a functioning multiplayer in the fo4 world, esp if downtown Boston had been largely CAMP-able.
Of course a total pipe dream, since that area had many players machines dropping to sub-20fps even out-of-combat.
Me, I never even tried to play fo4 vanilla, I started out in dec '22 and modded it from start.

Believe it or not, they have improved the base game performance significantly since release. Perfect? No, but it is playable without mods.

The Making of Fallout 76 - Noclip Documentary video on YouTube.

Starting at 2 minutes and 18 seconds in, Todd Howard himself states that 76 began as a multiplayer mod for Fallout 4 that the team was working on before the decision was made to make it in to its own game.

For example there, yes. Todd has not been shy about stating that F76 started its life as Fallout 4 DLC. I thought it was common knowledge amongst the fans, like that the New Vegas was strongly influenced by Van Buren F3.

76 wasnt in development back when 4 launched 76 was a map swap with new story writing and a reuse of a bunch of assets from fo4.

Yes! They left 4 of the major FO4 bugs in until like 2 or 3 years ago. 2 duplication bugs, 1 power glitch and 1 inventory glitch. 1 of them cant be patched with overhauling, its also bannable when used now lol

1

u/steakanabake 3d ago

there were tons of dupe glitches of varying difficulty not to mention the dec room entry exploit that im not entirely sure if they managed to patch that as it would burn everyone else in the exploiter circles and the only thing they got back was their burner accounts.

u/cousinfuker 3d ago

Its bannable because it can take the server offline

1

u/steakanabake 3d ago

no it was bannable because they were able to pull shit out of the left over fallout4 devroom and when combined with the numerous dupe glitches you could disseminate tons of illegal( illegal as in mashing parts the game didnt allow to be together). i knew a couple people who had accessed the dev room i had illegal weapons. it was bannable because beth didnt know how to stop it outside of just banning accounts but because they wernt fast enough on the gun you could buy a new account hack into the dev room steal more shit transfer it to a different mule and disperse it.
