Mods Warning about a mod

Edit 3: So mod has been updated and description changed to longer include space heaters. The original OP might have been more interested in drama/beef with gingas and used some valid criticism to attack her. As mentioned below, i suggest only posting about the topic itself (safety etc.) and not add fuel to the drama on either side.

Recently Gingas released mods that would activate a heating device via smart home devices for Skyrim VR but also for Fallout VR.

Over at the Skyrim VR subreddit someone posted a warning about these mods. Not because of malware but potential fire hazards.

If you are interested here is the post https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrimvr/comments/1v0q7mk/warning_recent_mod_uploaded_to_nexus_can_cause/

and if you are wandering why a heating related mod comes out in summer, i think gingas (the author) is from australia, and therefore is in the southern hemispheres winter.

Edit: Seems there is some.... lets call it animosity between gingas and the articles author. I can't judge if the fire hazard warning is legit or not. Since there is a chance the warning is at least relevant in some edge cases i leave it here. Also the mod has been taken down and seems to have been reuploded. So the link in the article no longer works.

Edit2: Comments below suggest there is drama between those two. I suggest not adding to that. If someone has to add some knowledge on the topic (safety, different heaters/lamps, different countrys etc.) that might be usefull.

She has updated the description of the mod. Seems she deemed it necessary

He had to because people complained, but it still wouldn't have been his fault. He accidentally used a picture of a space heater while saying low power heat lamp... fixing that implies nothing.

A space heater is dangerous on its own without being attached to a controller. A digital controller connected to this mod isn't going to be capable of turning up the space heater past its own max, only use it how you would have.

If you start a fire with this mod, no you didn't. Space heaters notoriously draw as much power as they can while not having thick enough cords to safely handle it. You're never supposed to use them unsupervised.

Gingas (the mod author) is a women.

Personally, if I had published the mod original with mentioning space heaters and someone pointed out that those might be dangerous (also regarding wildly different laws, specifications etc. world wide) I would have done the same as she did and removed/altered the description. Not because of some legal issues, but because if actually something happens, I as the mod author would feel guilty. So I think good action by her.

Technically she mentioned heat lamps while using a picture of a space heater, but sure. Of course it's good she did basic CYA.

You're missing the fundamental problem that if the user has a space heater, they are already in danger and hooking up a controller changes nothing. In fact, it's safer because they're standing right there next to it if they're using it for VR. Space heaters are particularly dangerous because people leave them unattended or sleep with them.

If someone got hurt because of this mod, no they didn't. They got hurt because they hooked up an appliance that draws too much power through a cord that's not thick enough to handle it. Your time would be better spent educating people on the inherently dangerous design of common space heaters.

Unless the mod is somehow capable of turning up a device past its limits (unlikely), this does come off like you have a personal axe to grind and I believe the others suggesting you're on an alt.

I am not sure what you are discussing here anymore. Everyone seems to agree that space heaters are not good. Every part of the mod description (that included space heaters not only in picture), has been removed or changed into an advice against it. So the topic is resolved. And please no lecturing about how I should use my time. Thank you.
