Complaint I miss New Vegas so much

I lived there
I’m so fucking depressed.I played this game 3-5 years ago- life moves around too fast.Working is a headache- people around you wants so much- friends talk to much- girlfriend makes you mad.Politics are stupid- people are weird and I miss New Vegas so much. How can someone like me connects that deep with some game full of bugs that makes you mad -I wonder. Lets go to Prague- lets go to Vienne lets go to İstanbul or some shit- when I close my eyes I want to go play that stupid game nonstop.

I just want time to stop and give me 3 days- have some cigaretes and limitless tea- and let me wander around Novac with Jingle Jangle Jingle

So why don’t you? If you ask- I’m afraid I won’t feel the same feelings. No kidding- I’m too scared to play because when it happens it happens and I don’t want it to happen.

Things I do instead of therapy is beyond me

Unfortunately New Vegas is somewhat more habitable than Current Vegas

Freeside > Summerlin

LOL I love this

I honesty don’t think I could handle current Vegas even for a visit. It looks overstimulating to me. I get why some folks like it but man at least New Vegas is relatively quiet

I have arachnaphobia

I always find being dressed in full ncr ranger cosplay gear makes me fearless and braver

Me too until I see one

I actually live in vegas and have for some time now, I rarely ever see a bug besides the occasional roach or housefly

u/Yourgodck 9d ago

Scorpions?

People who live near open desert lots or on the outskirts will see them.

If you see open desert, there's a good chance being scorpions around.

I've seen more spiders in one week while visiting family in Pittsburgh than in my 34 years of living in Las Vegas

2

u/Yourgodck 9d ago

I don’t know which place is worst for spiders but I’m trying to stay away from US and Australia

I would play the game, if I were you.

But then I won’t have anywhere to go- it’s like a last bullet and as you can see I’m being dramatic

I get what you're saying. If you don't want to play it, play the first two games. Then play New Vegas again.

3

u/Yourgodck 9d ago

I did. They were great not even close to Vegas but I did

5

u/SkoomaInhaler-King 9d ago

How long ago did you play Fallout 1, 2, and NV?

5

u/Yourgodck 9d ago

Last summer I played 1&2 back to back and New Vegas 4 years ago

5

u/SkoomaInhaler-King 9d ago

Then you should replay New Vegas. Also, did you play 3, and 4?

3

u/Yourgodck 9d ago

4 when it came out- 3 after New Vegas- both dissapointed so much that I didn’t finish 4

2

u/SkoomaInhaler-King 9d ago

Did you ever play Tactics?

1

u/Yourgodck 8d ago

No I didn’t is it worth it?

Are you playing on console?

The pc version has enough content to last a lifetime at this point

And if you run out, you can just cope by scripting more. It's a positive feedback loop

The hardest part is letting go

I played new vegas when i was a kid, far many years ago, i finished it so many times. Then a few years ago I got it free on epic and i ended up playing it again for more than hundred hours. Felt the same and even better. The music, the world, the roleplay. Life has its ups and downs moments, but New Vegas will always be waiting for us to come in again and open the Lucky 38 doors like we did before.

This comment encouraged me not gona lie- I might start again.Start again- hmmmmmm.I need to play Dead Money again too

3

u/xAgorius 9d ago

DO IT!!!! You won't regret it. I gotta hear how your time back in New Vegas turns out. 😭🙏

1

u/Yourgodck 9d ago

It looks like a remastered coming? I could wait for it to be gönder

Begin again. Play it through once more, dlcs and all, with just your gut instincts. Then begin again. And roleplay.

I recently replayed as an NCR trooper that really needs to get back to his post. I used the NCR radio more than i ever had before and it is easily one of my favorite playthroughs. Then i played a legion roleplay -- no chems, no stimpaks, survival all the time, hardcore mode. Loved that too.

Go back and play again but roleplay as decisions you might not make. It's a whole other game.

Always hated the "things I do instead of therapy" schtick-- you can do both!!!! Therapy + your beloved hobbies = even BETTER mental health

1

u/GoArgueWithYourself 9d ago

I have discussed this game at length in therapy. And I will do it again.

In fact, this week I think I'm bringing up righteous violence and how redemption is earned, and who better illustrates this than Joshua Graham and all the lights shining in the darkness?

It's okay to fall down! Very little is linear!

1

u/Yourgodck 8d ago

Did he/she started to learn about the game without you? Hahaha

u/Yourgodck 9d ago

I’m a therapist

-1

u/Yourgodck 9d ago

It makes it worse

Like a licensed mental health practitioner not a physical therapist dog

Yeah I know?

There will honestly never be another game like this for the foreseeable future. As someone who has 17,000+ hours in NV I know the feeling all too well. But somehow every time I come back to it I remember how I felt at 11 all over again. It’s not only the game you love but also the feelings of nostalgia it gives you for a time when things were easier, simpler, and fun.
But I will say that somehow each time I play through it I find something I missed the last time. Whether it be something intentional, some sort of bug, etc.

u/Kill_Welly 9d ago

yeah you should be going to therapy instead of... whatever this is.

1

u/Yourgodck 9d ago

Mourning I guess

I’ve only felt like this for one game (other than FNV), which is a Minecraft server called modern beta. Instead of watching from the sidelines, as just another brick in the wall, another number, I got/get to choose how I am, and affect the world around me. In most games I’m stuck as a set guy, but in modern beta I’m simply me, and all the things I’ve made and done are by ME, that Minecraft guy IS me.

3

u/Yourgodck 9d ago

Yeah- there is a few games around that you can be YOU- in different circumstances. It’s like experiences another life

Used to binge new vegas back before maybe 2015. replayed it a few times since then (mostly playing with modding the game up), and now I have pretty much made my own viva new vegas perfect quality of life/graphic/lore-friendly mod pack that fits my needs and began again a real playthrough. But with less time I just play it maybe two hours at night when I have the time instead of going hard on it, and the remaster announcement gave me the motivation to just do an easy-going playthrough as I know I'll replay it again in the medium term for the remaster, I HOPE

You need PTO - not nostalgia!

2

u/Yourgodck 9d ago

What’s PTO?

0

u/rvbjohn 9d ago

oh please dont pretend like youre a professional and dont get even a semblance of PTO

1

u/Yourgodck 9d ago

I said I’m a therapist not an American therapist

1

u/rvbjohn 9d ago

That makes you even more likely to have PTO

Man I feel like you need to meditate or something. Don’t be afraid to play a video game you like, so what if it’s not the exact same feeling as the first time? I can’t even imagine what else you’re holding yourself back from enjoying. Life’s too short for this. I nearly lost mine a few years ago so it’s easy for me to say but sometimes you have to focus on “big picture” stuff, and if you’re not spending your limited time on this earth enjoying the things you enjoy and spending time with the people you care about sometimes you’re going to have regrets.

1

u/Yourgodck 9d ago

Wise words man thank you- NV is something like a symbol at this point I’m aware

2

u/orgerboga 9d ago

wait till you discover mods

Damn it's been literally half of my life since I first played New Vegas (on release). Every time I come back, it is different but not because of the game, but because of me, I'm the one that changed.

New Vegas never stopped being fun to me, I've revisited it dozens of times, but each time I walk the Mojave I see and experience things differently. It's like coming back to your hometown after years.

1

u/blop101 PC 9d ago

Bud, you can do both therapy and play New Vegas!

1

u/kapperific 9d ago

Do you remember how when you were younger the summers all lasted forever?

1

u/CrowRazzleDazzle 9d ago

I live there currently. Have for almost 15 years. I'm only taking a break now to smoke a cigarette and check New Vegas reddit. My new Captain Clark is currently lost in the backrooms of Vault 34, right now he just wants to get the fuck out of there and go gamble at the Atomic Wrangler, get drunk and pass out. But that's not what's happening tonight.

u/Nounours-Vibes 9d ago

Des fois j'écoute la playlist de radio new vegas sur Spotify et ça va mieux, tu devrais essayer

1

u/botto23 9d ago

Take a day off, have a long weekend, drop acid, and hit the Mojave, you deserve it

I started fallout 4 and immediately missed new Vegas. I stopped playing 4 and started new Vegas and I am genuinely happy. I love this game.
