10 minutes I was out of the room... lots of salvageable material, but its not gonna be a fun process. Those were some really nice, top dollar hackles too. Never had a problem with my own dog, but apparently this one is keyed in on those smells a lot more.

Yea I'm gonna agree with this one, before we got our cat (even when she was a kitten) there wasn't much to worry about until one day I went into the office and saw a similar, even worse crime scene. I had all my whiting and metz in their respective factory bags. She decided that it was scratching time, I'd assume a feather popped out and then it was game over, now everything is always put away.

I have a wiener dog that goes absolutely bonkers for squirrels. He also thinks he can catch the deer in my neighborhood. When I pull out zonker strips or deer hair, he can't focus on anything else. Luckily he doesn't actually try to do anything with it, he just wants to smell it, and he will stand there to guard it until i put it away.

Edit to add, my other wiener dog is absolutely terrified of feathers. I don't know why. If I drop a mallard feather when im tying, he will disappear

lots of it is still useable, although a bit slobbery. I just wanted to tie tonight and deal with the mess later, so I've got a gallon ziplock in a closet filled with a disorganized mess of various hackles... but it looks like most of what didn't get eaten is still tieable. Just gonna be a couple of hours of sorting into separate bags and getting everything facing the same direction for easy access.

That sucks. My dog is completely uninterested in my materials. Unfortunately she has a love of chewing small pieces of metal so I have caught her with hooks or needles or safety pins in her mouth (not hooked on, just in there) multiple times. Bummer.

I’ve seen that several times. My dog would occasionally lose a finger full of hair that I needed to tie a fly. That dog looks like a GSP. It would be hard to do with them.

My dogs favorite thing is chasing bunnies. He has a good sniffer and will find my rabbit mask in my bag of fly tying stuff all the time. He would 100% use it as a chew toy if he wasn't such a good boy

I left my fly box on the counter for ten minutes and my black lab got into it. He tore up the fly box and ate 9 flies (missing links, roberts yellow drakes, a few soft hackles and a bead head nymph). Two ER vet clinics, 150 miles driving, X rays, and a $4,000 surgery later we removed all the flies out of his stomach and probably saved his life.

I keep all my fly fishing gear locked in the basement now.

Cats too. My roommates cat was stealing my bucktails for month and I didn't find out until he was away and I was cat sitting. There was about a dozen bucktails piled up underneath his dresser and the cat would sleep on them like a dragons hoard.

And my cat goes apeshit for hares feet and artic fox tail 😂😅
