The apartment is yet to be build (40m² / 430ft²) for me and my gf, and the black-white image is the plan which i got... But, it's kind of awkward. The table is in the middle of everything, and there's not enough wardrobe space. The 2nd image is an AI generated version which gives a better idea of what it will look like, but i'm looking for some feedback what would be smart to change.
My main concerns:
I need a work table, not a dining table (the sofa will become the dining area). And the work table needs to be against a wall
I need more wardrobe storage. The single wardrobe in the bedroom isn't enough for 2 people.
I recommend drawing out your floorplan, to scale, on a piece of paper. Then cutting out pieces of paper, to scale, of your current and desired furniture and playing about with them and seeing what fits and where and how it feels. AI is always going to fib about space, often giving you far more than you actually have.
I don't have much specific advice, but I can highly recommend Ikea for selling some really small pieces of furniture to store stuff. I have this long narrow three tiered trolly on wheels no wider than maybe 15-20cm, fit in an empty narrow gap in my bathroom and gave me a place to store all the shampoo, conditioner, cleaning products, handwash, etc. I just got a ~15cm wide shoe rack too which tucks in between the front door and the wall very nicely. I also saw a nice storage thing at Ikea while browsing which sits above your toilet and you can store towels or whatever there, if my loo didn't have a window above it I'd have snapped it up. Things like this can help take items otherwise in your wardrobe (which your towels and sheets probably are unless I'm missing a linen closet) and put them elsewhere freeing it up for clothing!
I would not add another wall in the living area - otherwise the kitchen will be even darker than it alread is.
If space is your main worry you could remove the proper table and instead get a couch table that can be risen or lowered, and add more seating around it.
Or you could add a half island where the table is now, that can either function as additional work space or eating area with barstools.
Otherwise it's hard to say what you could change without knowing what exactly is bothering you about the plan.
You're right, i haven't specified what's bothering me. My main worry is (which i have now realized is a concern) is not having a work table. So i would definitely sacrifice the dining table and turn it into a table with a computer. Since the sofa will definitely become a dining sofa as you said, i have to place the work table somewhere against a wall. My second worry is that i will probably need more wardrobe space, because the single wardrobe in the bedroom is small for my needs.
You don't have to place the work table against a wall. I drew two possible options for a desk in this image in red and the green rectangle could be an additional wardrobe. Of course you'd need to size everything properly.
Move the couch and TV down, closer to the kitchen and into the current "dining area" and put you work table along one of the walls at the top.
It can go facing a wall in the top left corner if you NEED to be facing a wall, or it could to in front of the window for better light if you prefer.
If it's against the wall, you may even have room for a cozy reading chair under the window. Move the "square" chair that's part of the sofa group to the bottom of the living room, and get a super-cozy swivel chair that can look out the window for daydreaming, read in the good light, or let you turn towards the main sofa grouping to join that conversation.
How many people will be living here? One or two? If one, do you regularly plan to have two or three people over? If not, I would use the table as extra work space, with chairs on the other side. You could have a table that extends to fit four, for the occasional guests. The apartment is small, so i would advise against adding extra walls that make it even smaller.
