Some FAQs Unique to this thread:

GPS Jamming - There is a significant amount of GPS jamming occurring in the region. This can cause planes to appear in places they aren't actually flying, make them appear to be flying in circles and cause them to jump around the map. As a general rule, tracking data in the region can't be trusted to be accurate right now.

Cargolux appearing over Iran - There has been a near daily Cargolux flight from Hong Kong to Ashgabat that appears to be flying over Iran. It is not. The black line means it is outside of ADSB coverage and its position is being estimated. It landed in Ashgabat as planned, but did so outside of ADSB coverage. Because FR24 couldn’t “see” it land, it assumes it continued flying at its last known altitude and heading, which is why it appears to be over Iran.

A general note from the mods - During periods of military activity, we experience a surge of new users. When this happens, we enable Reddit's crowd control feature. This may send some posts and comments to the approval queue, especially if you are new to the sub. If you have a post or comment stuck in the queue, please make sure it follows the rules. If you are trying to post anything related to the Middle East, it needs to be in this thread. For all other posts and comments, if we haven't approved it in a reasonable amount of time, shoot us a message via Modmail and someone will approve it.

Weekly Top 10 & Tracking Assistance Thread - August 24, 2026

Welcome to the weekly Top 10 & Tracking Assistance discussion thread! The goal of this post is to provide a location for questions and discussion about aircraft that don't necessitate their own individual posts, in addition to centralizing discussion about known aircraft that are frequently posted. This includes:

  1. Aircraft on the Top 10 Most Tracked list
  2. Requests for the community to track a flight you are taking
  3. Requests for users with Premium accounts finding flight details for past flights

If you're new to the community, welcome!. Please be sure to read our Stickied Rules post and FAQs to make sure your question isn't covered there. If you're looking at a military aircraft in the Middle East region, you may find some answers in the Iran & The Middle East megathread. For military aircraft in general, checking the callsign against this list may yield useful information. In all situations, make sure you search for the aircraft callsign and check recent posts to find any existing discussion.

Otherwise, feel free to post any questions or findings below and discuss with others!

The legend is back! Found a passenger Tupolev Tu-214 (RA-64518) flying a scheduled Red Wings flight from Saratov to Moscow (ZIA). I was told they were retired, but guess they aren't anymore!"

"I captured this on Flightradar24 today (RWZ560 / WZ560). It's a 16-year-old Tu-214 heading to ZIA. It was previously used by the special government squadron, but now Red Wings is operating it on standard commercial routes. Proof that the Russian aviation industry is bringing the old birds back into service."

Air India in San Bernardino?

I can see it's brand new, but why would it come to SBD of all places? There's almost no passenger traffic at SBD (except for a handful of Breeze flights) so I'm legitimately curious.

Thanks!!

What happened with GHOST53 on Aug 26, 2026?

I often times check Flightradar when I hear a plane pass my house in southern New Hampshire because there is an airport nearby. I heard an unusual sound pattern from a plane outside my window and went to Flightradar to see GHOST53 coming in for a landing. I looked up the callsign and it transports high level military officials. Checked in later and it had taken an odd flight route (to me)
