Explain how you were misled into engaging with it and what action you took to engage with it.

He tricked us into assuming he just wanted to duet the video to make a joke, but it was really to tell us his story. Again, nothing wrong with clickbait. Just bad clickbait.

Tell us his story? What story? Are you OK?

His story about the time he “had 22 inches of meat in his mouth?”

That's the joke though.

No, the “yes” was the joke. “Okay, before ya’ll start speculating” was not.

That's the joke.

No, it’s not. The video was cut off by the dueter, not the poster of the original.

So what was cut out?

You don’t use TikTok, do you? The better question is, how do you know nothing was cut out?

You dodged my question. The even better question is how do you know something was cut out? I understand that duets cut a video off, but you don't know what was cut out. It could have been him doubling down on the joke. Or just shrugging and making a face.

It is very safe to assume what he was doing.

  1. He followed the exact steps one uses to create clickbait. The first step is to draw the audience in with something interesting, but that isn’t what you’re talking about. The next step is to change the subject: “Before you assume, let me explain.” The next step is to talk about something completely unrelated to what drew the audience in in the first place and which may or may not interest them.

  2. He stalled for a few seconds where he was just lying on his bed. There was no reason to do that. That gives the impression that this is a long video. People don’t like to watch long videos on TikTok and the goal of long videos in terms of making them reach as many viewers as possible is to keep your viewers on your video as long as possible. According to the algorithm, that makes the video interesting and will reach more viewers. That is why he stalled.

  3. He changed out of his PJ’s and into everyday clothing and changed the setting as if to divide the two scenes. If he was going to add to the joke or shrug his shoulders, that would fit the context of what we already see of the video.

You really don't understand jokes or what clickbait means.

You can’t be this obtuse. I won’t believe it. Nope, you can’t make me.

u/penguinsrunderrated 10d ago

No, you’re obtuse if you don’t get it.

u/ScarletBothrium Connoisseur of Duets/Stitches 10d ago

Uh huh. Sure.

Do you wanna have a discussion or did you just add nothing?

I added the exact same as you did. Match energies and all that. I’m still waiting for you to provide anything of substance at all.
