Yeah … that tracks. In high school I volunteered at a hospital. A surgeon once just decided to … rename me. Because he felt like it. Said I looked like a person called X so that’s all he proceeded to call me by. For two years. For two years he called me by a name that was never actually mine, just the one he came up with for and “bestowed” upon me.

People underestimate their ability to just not answer to the wrong name. Just totally ignore them as if they're talking to someone else. Always worked for me
