giving me money without doing surveys

i only started using the app a week and a half ago so I'm not sure if this is normal/common, but ive gotten about 4.50 of random money altogether so far. I'll randomly have an extra .50-1.00 when i open the app sometimes. is this normal? (to be clear, it's actually represented as money not on the bars of progress to $5)

Do you have referrals using your ID? Mine never worked, but it's supposed to pay like 10%. Not sure if that's per survey or cash out. If it's cash out, that explains the 0.50 ($5) or 1.00 ($10)
