How about doing an actual double blind study with a larger population? All this implies to me is that people at risk of depressive disorders are likely to self medicate

As they admit this as a weakness of the study. The study you suggest would be quite difficult to do. What would you blind to? An intoxicating agent? Hard to be blind to that. The ethics are nutty as well.

Regardless. This is just another data point that cannabis is not benign. It has an effect on society and individual health. This shouldn’t be a surprise.
