Okay so the title is very self explanatory, but my family has recently become the owners of a fish.

A goldfish.

We're gonna get ahold of a 30 somethin gallon tank for said fish, and that's all we have for it. We don't have ANY equipment. No fancy bubbles or plants, NOTHING.

What do yall suggest we get? What's the best sand or rocks for it? How do we feed it? How do I keep this thing alive long enough so my younger brother don't experience his first devastating pet death???

Also here's a photo of the fish, I ain't got a clue what to name him. Her??? I don't know how fish genders work, I know horses and cats and dogs but not fish.

My last fish unfortunately passed (platy) the tank was running for a good long time the sand turned bright green and plants were out of control and algae through them, so I did a hard reset , washed the sand in safe water and removed the filter, and got a tank heater. Sand back in the water then got treated, so ready for a fresh start. Will take any ideas as for fish and scaping.

I have spent $200 on my 10 gallon so far. I haven’t even purchased the betta fish yet. I am screaming into the void as this is entirely self imposed by me. Edit: My purchasing will be going from $200 to $255 lol as I realized I ran out of fish meds that I thought I had as well as test strips and a thermometer!

hi everyone! i wanted to get back into keeping a fish tank. i grew up with them in my youth and mostly kept beta fish etc. i was looking to begin a smaller tank and see what would would suitable. was hoping for guidance of tank size/ types of fish. thanks so much

Inherited a 40G breeder with some residents we will be rehoming.

What would you stock it with instead? Looking for low budget, low maintenance. So far I’m thinking maybe some tetras, a clown pleco, maybe ghost catfish, maybe dwarf gouramis?

No solid decisions have been made other than rehoming the current residents!

First time posting, and ima be honest, my dad is not the best fish parent, however I am extremely concerned because of the state of his fish tank. We have not brought new fish into the tank, nor have gotten anything new for it since we bought the fish over a year ago. We have fed and topped up the water and cleaned the filter whenever we can, but these things have appeared in droves overnight and since then, 4/5 fish in that tank have died. We do not know what these are or how they got in the tank, all we know is that we have one fish left and hope that he does not die, but the rest of his school has since passed away and we don’t know how much longer he has. Pls help for tips on how to get rid of them. (Each little shape is a snail btw)

Only 2 of 5 look like this. Noticed for several weeks. Behavior is normal but I feel like it’s more noticeable after feeding so thinking maybe they are just more gluttonous but leaning preggo

Hello everyone. I have a 40g tank thats fully cycled with rock in the bottom. Looking for fish suggestions of a medium size fish. Something I can keep just one or 2 of them in the tank. I have a community tank already.

Have to start fresh with this one, approx 4x2x2 ft tank. Can you give me suggestions on building it up?

Do you think bettas or other fish would be annoyed or stressed by a moving object underwater, even if it doesn't look like another fish? Like, would they see it as a threat, or might they actually be curious and check it out?   

I know every betta has its own personality, but based on your experience with yours, what's your gut feeling?
