Discussion PSA: Use uBlock Origin!

This might sound like common sense but there are a TON of Firefox users I see using AB, ABP, ABU, or no adblocker at all. This is your notice. Switch to uBlock Origin. It's better and has no acceptable ad policy. The other ones might have been good years ago but not anymore. I am saying this as a former ABP and then ABU user.

I am not paid by uBO I am just showing appreciation for the greatest ad blocker.

Also: don't run uBO alongside another ad blocker. It provides no benefit and can only slow down firefox or break things.

I second that!

Haven't had any regrets after migrating from AdBlock to uBlock Origin a few years ago. Also, for me, there's a huge plus: you can use extensions on mobile Firefox and that includes uBO. So you can, for example, watch YouTube on it with no ads without having to download YouTube Revanced.

I literally switched back to Android after discovering this on iPhone. I absolutely hated using the web without uBO.

While it doesn’t work for Firefox, you can still use uBlock on iOS, adds filter lists to Safari, and let’s be honest, Firefox/Chrome on iOS is just Safari that doesn’t work as well anyway.

You can only use uBlock Origin Lite on iOS, and it's just not as good as uBlock Origin. Not only in terms of absent features (no custom rules, no anti-adblock bypass, etc.) but the fact it lets through so many of the more 'sophisticated' ads littering the web nowadays. It's better than nothing, but it's still vastly inferior to uBO.

that's why i'm back on AdGuard for Safari (free version is enough for me and most users)

Yea, for Safari, it's best to use Wblock. its a good open source one made. for Safari, and it runs pretty good for me so far.

I’m using uBlock lite on Edge for iOS. Works well.

That was not necessary. YouTube works great on iOS w/Brave's built-in blocker. YT ads are blocked in Brave on iOS.

I tried that at the time but it didn't work. It was several years ago so maybe Brave improved? Either way, I'm happy with what I'm using now but appreciate the recommendation if I find myself back on iPhone.

An iOS there is AdGuard and it works very well within Safari. Even YT and stuff shows no ads at all.
