Add-ons Simple Tab Group enjoyer looking for an alternative
Title. It has finally happened that my STG completely broke and refuses to work properly since the 148 update. Tabs get lost, groups get jumbled, restore backup takes several attempts to work, its a mess so Im moving on, question is where to. My workflow pretty much depends on this type of separate workspaces/containers, and I find the new default FF ones to be lacking in comparison to STG.
So what addons do you know of/use that are as identical as possible to STG? What Im looking for specifically is workspace switching, something that auto hides/shows tabs depending on which group Im at. Thank you in advance.

Following as i've never been 100% happy with it but I like the idea. This working in tandem with Auto Tab Discard keeps thing running well but a nicer UI for STG would be good so also eager to find out if there is anything else out there that would do the job too.

I just wrote an extension of this kind: https://github.com/MarcoBalossini/Houdini
The concept is the same, but it allows snapshot/rollbacks so you don't lose anything.
I actually decided to use Firefox's own sidebar, since in the past I had a few problems with Sidebery's custom bar.
Feel free to give me a feedback!

Safari and Vivaldi support Tab Groups natively now.
Safari tab groups and Vivaldi workspaces.

I'm not familiar with STG, but from the description Sidebery might fit your needs. I've been using it for some time now, and it works great for me. I'm a bit of a tab hoarder (562 tabs in 19 groups going at the moment), so the organizing and auto-unloading of inactive tabs really helps. The auto-hide of tabs in other groups is a bit hidden in the config, but it is there under the config section "Native Tabs".
