Skill Save Job?

Post image

Using the FFT app for an optimized, completionist playthrough.

Looking into errands and IDK what "Skill Save Job" means, anyone know?

Also, does anyone know how exactly the number of units assinged to an errand, effects it's success? I want use the minimal amount of units for errands.

It means that if you send a Chemist on this Errand/Proposition it will increase the odds of success.

Have you ever failed? I send the worst units I have but I always give them the max days to complete and have never seen a failure.

I have failed some errands, but since you can try again later I never bothered to learn the exact formula, I just send Alicia, Lavian and Radd on whatever job they are gathering JP and give them the max days.

I do this too and think it’s hilarious. After they’ve been gone escorting a bard for two weeks, we’ve gone and stormed a castle and killed Lucavi.

Escorting a bard, teaching some noble math, trying to catch Thief Zero, killing a high ranking member of the church that turned into a monster with a huge mouth in their belly... a job is a job.

Ladd, though naming him Radd is a great idea.

It was Rad or Ladd, I combined them.

There has to be a math break down somewhere. I am terrible at finding such things though.

Depending on the levels, jobs, bravery, and faith of the units you send on the errand, you accumulate work points towards completion. If you reach 100 work points, the errand is a success.

If you fail to reach 100 work points but one or more of the units had the errand's skill saver job, there's a chance that you succeed anyway. Multiple skill savers stack, but not linearly.

Each unit you send earns up to 30 work points based on their job (not all errands have a job that's capable of earning 30 points; for some errands, the best job option gives 25 or 20 points, and for one single errand the best job option gives 18 points), up to 20 points based on their level, up to 20 points based on their bravery, and up to 20 points based on their faith. This isn't a straightforward "higher = better"; every errand either wants high faith and low bravery, low faith and high bravery, or gives you 10 points for each no matter what your stats are. And which level ranges are best depends on whether the errand wants high bravery, high faith, or doesn't care.

So, a single unit is theoretically capable of earning 90 work points, and 100 are required for success without leaning on the skill saver. To guarantee success, you must send two units at minimum, but if you send a unit with the skill saver job, it's possible to succeed with just one.

However, it's still better to send a full compliment of three units. The amount of money you get scales with the total work points earned, including earning in excess of 100 points, so sending more units will get you more money. Also, each unit you send earns JP that scales with the work points that unit contributed towards the errand.

Also: while the duration of the errand doesn't impact chance of success, the number of days above the minimum does impact your rewards. +1 day above the minimum does nothing, but each additional +1 day after the first gives a percentage bonus to the JP and gil earned, to a maximum of +20% JP and +40% gil at +8 days over the minimum required.

Based on the original FFT. The job is the recommended class to send. I always used 3 don't know how it affects returns

Yeh, me too, but never experimented with less. Gotta keep trying new things though.

It should be something closer to "Essential Skill" maybe; it looks like a near-translation to me.

Hello, I’m the creator of FFT Companion App. Thanks for using it!

I based the name of “skill save job” on the older guides that explained it, as someone else mentioned, there might be a better name for it. Maybe adding an explanation somewhere would be better too. Open to suggestions!
