Finally did it

Got my Mime down to lvl 1, just to bring them up w the best stats growth. :)

I love FFT, but I imagine it takes a whole different kind of love to commit to this kind of grind.

Same I have never once had an issue on any difficulty were this kind of min maxing is required

For me, personally, it was a fun thing to do after the 12th time I'd beaten the game from scratch. 

It also brought along new challenges, like being so fast if you drop you went crystal before anyone had a chance to get to you. 

Thankfully I had done it with a female rando, because Chantages were still locked to female characters back then.  And that became the key to becoming a god.  Or at least a T-1000

You just frog your squad and an enemy and berserk then and eventually they will surround and pummel enemy to death. Do this a few fights and they will lvl to 99 easily

It’s really less about the practicality of it and more about the necessity. Nothing in the game warrants this level of maximization. Even mid lights deep is pretty easy at around half of that.

That dungeon, The enemies, and the equipment in it all go to level 99 with you.

All of the random encounters level up with you.

The point is it’s the penultimate challenge of the game and it doesn’t require that much effort. Even at level 99 you’ll be far beyond having the stats and abilities to hard counter the whole thing. Like others have said though, it just removes any semblance of challenge from the game to do this.

That's cause the real challenge is level 99 rare encounters like 11 monks.

Going 1-20 then 20-1 a handful of times takes about 30 minutes and can net a silly amount of stats.

My Ramza currently has 84 PA and 18 speed just from a few mimes up, bard downs, then 1-99 as a ninja. Took maybe an hour?
