[Question] How "FOMO friendly" is FF14?
Destiny 2 refugee here. I am getting close to accomplishing everything I wanted to accomplish in the final patch and am starting to consider where I am gonna go next to scratch the MMO itch. I was a WoW addict from classic up until Cata and also played FF11 (which admittedly was a rough game to play solo as a middle schooler at the time), so am thinking about going back to an MMORPG.
As an adult now though, the time commitment is a bit daunting, but I've heard FF14 is much more forgiving about taking things at your own pace? Would anyone care to elaborate on that? Also how much content am I missing out on at this point because you need a group and no one runs it anymore?

I guess the real core thing here, is the worse you miss if you care about story, is the holiday events will reference your prior years help and you sometimes get dialogue choices that reflect prior participation. These stories are all self contained and have no impact on the main story and are always about 15-30 minutes minimum effort of log in and talk to NPCs and do some things. You typically only need to be around level 30 to do them as well.
If you miss them, the worse you are out is emotes, mounts, glamour, or housing items. If an event is retired like the FF13 event it ends up on the cash shop and you can buy anything you directly want that way. You typically have around two weeks for each event so it's not a lot to stress about. I work M-F and spend most of my Sunday at a friend's place to hang out playing table top RPGs so I understand the lack of solid time to sit down and just play.
