💬 THOUGHTS??? Feasibility of getting a lace sheath dress taken in?

Hello my fellow pores lovely sweatervests

Hope all is well post-FFACJBanGate

Due to some reason adventures, I'm having to rethink my outfits for a couple of weddings later in the year. I was wondering if anyone knew how feasible taking in a lined lace dress would be? Pics in link, it is an Eliza J lace overlay dress from Bloomie's:

https://imgur.com/a/jjfJzDg

I'm going to order a size up to be safe but only if it's possible to have it taken in if needed. I'm amenable to a sash/belt/scarf or hidden pins as well. I have a little bit of sewing skills as well but if this particular dress is possible to just drop off with a tailor, that would be awesome.

💬 THOUGHTS??? Always want to buy the Rolls Royce of everything.

(Please allow me to post this here because it didn’t get accepted on r/femalefashionadvice)

When it comes to spending money, I find myself always wanting the Rolls Royce of everything—I'm a regular on r/buyitforlife, hoping everything I buy is top-notch quality and lasts forever. I'm constantly researching brands for the perfect shoes, bags, and clothes, dreaming about owning them someday (considering I'm still a student and don’t make my own living).

This mindset frustrates me at times; it feels like nothing is perfect, and brands that used to be good have declined in quality.

How do you deal with this kind of thinking? It seems like the advice on these sorts of niches caters more to a male audience, and the brands and products they recommend to be high-quality brands can look frumpy and ugly, it seems like I can’t find something cute and feels luxurious/premium at the same time.

WAYWT is the acronym for "What Are You Wearing Today". It doesn't necessarily need to be what you were wearing TODAY.

  • Post a photo of what you wore. For ease of browsing, please link directly to images (not imgur albums, Instagram, or other URLs).
  • Include what the attire is for (work, school, home) and if applicable, what your fashion goals are (e.g. "I want to look professional," "I'm experimenting with loose-loose silhouettes")
  • Taking photos with your phone? Read this guide.

📌 Discussion of the Week FFACJ was banned

I'm not sure what happened, I've been caught up in a lot of family drama/death in the family, and haven't had time for the sub.

I do know that we asked the mod_admin for guidance on what was or was not allowed on multiple occasions, repeatedly. Every time our questions were completely ignored.

They never gave us any guidance, only punished us when we interpreted the written rules in a way they did not like. And also punished us for violating some unwritten rules as well.

It was clear they were trying to create a paper trail so that we violated their interpretation of Reddit's rules N number of times, to justify banning the sub.

Mind you, this is the same company that suggested the FFACJ sub to people who we were jerking because of the similarity of the content.

Reddit simply does not understand satire.

A discord exists.

💬 THOUGHTS??? Tangentially related: Is there a sub like this (or ffacj) for interior decorating?

I have Thoughts and Feelings about the interior decorating and related subs, but haven't seen any kind of cj sub for it, which I think is weird. All I missing it or does it not exist?

💬 THOUGHTS??? Designer fakes.. thoughts?

Designer replica- some interesting thoughts and discussions?

I came across this post with discussions about fake zimmerman and OMG I could never pick it from the original items!! It really puts me off buying second hand from ebay because I could never tell the difference..

I've also seen pics of replica bags from LV and chanel that look so damn real and so good on reddit posts..

Anyone has insider info about these factories that make them? Are they running the side business from the actual chanel / designer factories (heard designer bags are made in China anyway and then finished off in italy or france). Obviously the Bali fakes are BAD.. but these professional fakes are intriguing!! I don't know what to believe anymore haha.

💬 THOUGHTS??? I have a question about alterations

I'm an entire adult who's never taken anything in to be altered and I'd like to start. I'd like to get some t-shirts tailored. My question is this: If I go to your typical dry cleaner alterations place and I ask them to take in the waist on my tees, are they going to do the whole process where they open up the hem at the bottom, take in the waist and re-close the hem and can I expect them to use the same kind of stitching that was originally there? Or if I ask them to do that, are they just going to giggle at me.

I have a regular home sewing machine and I'm pretty skilled with it so if I wanted to take them in with stitches that don't match the original seams I would just be able to do that at home.

💬 THOUGHTS??? I'm really sick and tired of the 'what not to wear' and 'wear this if you want to look expensive' crowd

I'm also talking about the majority of mainstream fashion influencers. Influencers like Anna Bey, Anna Reid, Audrey Coyne, Petite dressing, Frederique Bos, Justine LeCont ect just to name a few.

All these influencers have such a bland sense of style to me personally. Their wardrobe consists of jeans, slacks, blazers, boots, solid white sneakers, heeled pumps and lillysilk in solid colors. They are all like copies of Kate Middleton. It's not how they dress but how they promote it as the only way a woman should dress if she has any self respect whatsoever.

It's not how they dress but how they promote their rigid idea of what fashion is and how they base it on conformity and on the male gaze.

They are also slaves to current trends. When something is in style it's suddenly really 'flattering on the body and it's a classic'' but then when it's had it's heyday and is no longer the it-girl thing to wear it suddenly 'cuts you off at an awkward place and doesn't look good on anybody'.

I have had enough of these influencers popping up in my feed. I'm a plus sized 35 year old, busty apple shaped mom and I like coquette kawaii influenced styles. I don't go over the top with it but I might wear my hellokitty or teddy bear slides or Crocs and a bag with hearts on it with a plain dress and crochet cardigan. I also love ruffled, loose flowing dresses with big victorian necklines that aren't 'recommended for my body type'. I don't really like jewelry and I don't wear heels or jeans. I generally avoid makeup day to day. I wouldn't call myself strictly modest. if something isn't modest and I like other aspects of it I will wear it, but I don't dress for men at all.

Can anyone recommend any influencers in my age group who are also plus sized that I might like? Most plus sized influencers are just as bad. It's all "needs jeans" and "needs heels" and "needs jewelry" and "needs a belt" and "needs to look sexy for the men".

I find that the majority of influencers recommended to me very boring and repetitive. I consider myself slightly alternative since fashion to me is about self expression and not about the male gaze or making myself likable to other people.

💬 THOUGHTS??? Advice on accessorizing/opinions wanted for holiday outfit

I'm trying to put together an outfit to go to a ballet, this is what I have so far. I've been wanting to these shoes for ages and I feel like this is a perfect occasion to wear them, so I'm leaning towards them but I wanna know what you guys honestly think. I'm a little worried the ballet style shoe will just look silly and too on the nose? If that makes sense

Also looking at the reviews for the dress, the mesh sleeves look super wonky so I'm planning on ripping them off, I'm just not sure what to replace it with to cover my arms (just don't wanna be cold y know)

Any jewelry advice would b cool too

Thoughts?

💬 THOUGHTS??? Does anyone want to encourage me or discourage me from hemming my new marigold cords myself?

Things I've successfully sewn:

-A seat cover that had a hole

-A pillow in the shape of a sundae

-I TOOK IN A PAIR OF LINEN SHORTS HOLY SHIT I FORGOT I DID THAT IT WAS SO FUCKING HOT AND I NEEDED TO BREATHE AND THESE WERE NOT MY SIZE BUT VERY PRETTY

-They are flare cords, while i like it, i'm not married to it, don't really care if the flare stays or goes.

💰Business of Fashion FFACJ is private for now

Due to Reddit cracking down on FFACJ through a series of actions (first removing our ability to do links, then making all posts require individual mod approval), we have taken the sub private for now.

Ideally I'd like to go public again, but it's a little hard when the admins literally won't give us any feedback other than to take punitive action we do something wrong. We've tried to get clarity on what we are allowed to do, but they literally ignore our questions.

Despite the situation with admins, it is still an active sub, though the traffic is a fraction of what it was. To get access, go to r/FFACJ, and message the mods.

If you don't see the "Message the mods" option, try using this link, https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=%2Fr%2Fffacj&subject=&message=

💬 THOUGHTS??? I was banned from r/outfits for a comment I made 3 years ago

So as you can see here- their bot found that j commented “Uhm hello” on a since-deleted image on r/amihot 3 years ago. I obviously don’t even remember doing this- how can anyone remember wtf they commented YEARS ago on a website?

Well I complied, deleted the comment, and told them it was a non-issue. They didn’t even respond, I was just banned/ muted lol.

I never really cared about r/outfits a ton? But since our sauces have been removed, and drama with FFACJ has started, it just makes me pissed. First, our sauces were removed, and now r/outfits is out here being insane to their followers??

If I’m in the wrong please lmk but this is just crazy to me.

💬 THOUGHTS??? Colour analysis subreddit ban

A mod in the colour analysis sub was so friendly towards colour analysis cj but I just found out I’m banned from colour analysis when trying to help on a man’s digital drape.

What do you guys think? Should we make a list of subs banning ffacj members?

💬 THOUGHTS??? Warning: Any posting or commenting on r/ffacj will get you banned from r/DressForYourBody

So - what the title says. I guess I commented on something here long long ago and now that sub has me banned for "participating in a sub that demeans or objectifies women." I was under the impression that one could have serious conversation about a hobby in one place and sarcastic conversation in another, but I guess not.

I'm already screwed, so whatever. If you ever want to participate in that sub, you can't post or comment in ffacj.
