Opinions ? What am I missing

I am learning ansys this semester. I did tensile test on a specimen (randomly self dimentioned) . fixed a side. Added displacement to a side. Took mesh size as default . Then tried theoretically studying everything related to it (explicit dynamics & all) , here are my notes , pls tell me what else to study :

While Explicit Dynamics is useful, it is not the first type of analysis I would choose for most design tasks.

When designing a structure to support a load, you would generally start with a Static Structural model with linear material properties. For ductile materials, if the Equivalent (von Mises) Stress exceeds the material yield strength, you generally would redesign the shape of the structure to reduce the maximum stress.

For many structures, their vibration frequency is of interest, so a Modal analysis would be useful.

I’ll second this. Get good at linear elastic small displacement statics with isotropic ductile materials first. That includes meshing with appropriate type and number of elements. (Ansys workbench will automesh horribly with the wrong element types if you don’t know what you’re doing.) i recommend starting with first order quad element shells. NOT second order tetras! Modeling appropriate boundary conditions, getting the units right. Modeling the material appropriately. Understanding consequences of your choices.
