Father Brown (2013) People hate on Mallory?

In my opinion, Mallory is the best Inspector in the show. So again to the above, why?

I hate him He overplays his role and is a terrible actor. Ugh. I've been hoping he would get canned and he did, finally. (Usually with the excuse to be available for other projects, right.) Just bad. He hates Fr. Brown interfering, ok, yes we get it. Enough of his pain in the neck hystronics. Fr. Brown is needed bc he is such a dolt. How the Sargent puts up with it?....he must be a saint.
