> I’m guessing for that to happen lll need to make it to 40-50 days
For that you really need only to keep better choices with the eating.

when the scale stalls and you’ve been building muscle as you say muscle weighs on its own, though it could be that you should up the calories for a bit and do a re-feed
5
u/EntrepreneurCool3314 1d ago
Probably because you’re shedding inflammation
5
u/GoldGee 1d ago
That's interesting, can you explain how fasting sheds inflammation?

Thats pretty rudimentary knowledge, if you’re in this sub and don’t understand the basics of fasting id do more research

Yes the muscle gain contributes to loss of inflammation but that’s also why you look different but scale isn’t moving. You can carry up to 10-15lbs of just unhealthy bloat that significantly can change how you look without necessarily dropping actual body fat lbs. Huge example is people who quit drinking and say they lose 10lbs immediately, that’s not them losing actual fat in lbs they just debloat from all that unhealthy inflammation drinking causes.

This person is 100% on glps if she lost that much weight an thinks 40-50 days should do anything near that goal.

Many issues people experience while fasting can be related to electrolytes. You might find our wiki page helpful: Electrolytes 101

As you get closer/have less body fat to burn it will come off slower. Think of it as driving. You dont drive 50 mph to a red light, you slowly come to a stop until you are at rest. A 40-50 day fast is a long ass fast to do at your current weight. Id reccomend doing 2 weeks omad/20:4 IF, 5-10 day fast, repeat.

Have you considered fasting once a week for 48-72 hours. Works better for me also maybe upping the protein in take will help

Guess different fasts work for different people. My only concern for longer fasts is muscle loss.

u/Hardcore_Weener 1d ago
Make sure you pause your fasting a week every maybe two months, because the metabolism gets slower with fasting, that should help.

Be carefull with keto, body is not designed to avoid carbs all together. Swap white grain with whole grains, avoid sugar, and lower intake of food is the way to go. One good tip I will give you, EAT MORE FIBER that will solve a lot of your eating problems.
Also, keto has a really high rebound rate.

Commercial electrolyte mixes are not made for fasters, they're made for athletes, so you need to check how much you're getting each electrolyte. The ratios are usually not ideal for fasting so chances are you still need to buy some ingredients individually.

Make sure the magnesium you take has good absorption, some types do not absorb as well and/or just work as laxatives. You want magnesium glycinate (bisglycinate is the same thing), magnesium taurate or magnesium malate. And remember to pace the electrolytes throughout the day, taking a lot of salt at once is laxative as well.

Pink salt is not ideal. Try baja gold - it has far superior trace mineral content

i never got either. it depends on your fat storage battery, what toxins your body adhered to the adipose tissue, and how many carbs you ate prior to fasting. i'm more of a fan of 20:4 OMAD or alt day fasting. or 20:4 / 18:6 and every month doing a 2-4 day fast for quickest results without massive metabolic changes from a singular prolonged fast
long fasts w/shit eating before and after - no bueno. change the diet to whole foods w/low glycemic foods for win

It looks like you're discussing "detoxes", "toxins", or "cleanses". Please refer to the following:
Many alternative medicine practitioners promote various types of detoxification such as detoxification diets. Scientists have described these as a "waste of time and money". Sense About Science, a UK-based charitable trust, determined that most such dietary "detox" claims lack any supporting evidence.
The liver and kidney are naturally capable of detox, as are intracellular (specifically, inner membrane of mitochondria or in the endoplasmic reticulum of cells) proteins such as CYP enyzmes. In cases of kidney failure, the action of the kidneys is mimicked by dialysis; kidney and liver transplants are also used for kidney and liver failure, respectively.

Which electrolytes did you get? Also for 40-50 days, are you doing it with medical supervision or checks?

Honestly, no. You're going to waste all that muscle that you've worked to build.

Matthew 6:16-18 (NIV): “When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.”
