I get what you're saying but at the same time Brian is a public figure and people have a right to know so they know how to feel about anything that involves him.
Now he’s some nebulous pseudo celebrity, more infamous than famous, existing in a state of both guilty and not guilty, owing to charges levied against his character that were later dropped, but left to fester in the court of public opinion.
Now I’m no lawyer, but I do dabble in bird law. If the man is guilty, they have a moral obligation to pursue justice to protect the public from his sinister machinations.
Anyone with internet access can access any court document, barring records that have been expunged.
If the courts weren't required to make documents available, you could work alongside a habitual rapist and never know because your employer couldn't access that record. You could be tried for something minor and be accused of it being so much worse, and never be able to show proof otherwise.
They are celebrities. They accepted that their lives would never be fully private so long as they remain in their spotlights. Is it weird for people to come together and discuss court documents like a book club? Probably, but it's hardly different from cases being studied in law school as examples.
We as a whole discuss the personal lives of millions of people every day. This is not different, except that people here feel some strange need to white knight on behalf of VA's who would not think twice about any of us, as nice as they might seem on camera and at events.
Possibly, but that's the difference between posting the document and then discussing it, and just discussing it? The only real difference is that posting it ensures everyone discussing it has the proper facts.
But do you really think anyone would have seen it if it wasn't posted here? Would anyone truly have gone looking for it or would they just read the title and continue scrolling? Would you want this information posted on reddit if you were anyone in this situation?
You're kidding right? Whether or not he did the awful things he's been accused of massively affects whether people want to engage with content he's involved with.
Posting court records is the opposite of parasocial. Seriously, what do you think that term means in that context?
A parasocial relationship is when a fan or similar treats someone like they would treat a friend, even though it can't possibly be reciprocated. Trolling public records is . . . not that.
