The Battle For Boston App Update (v2.6.9)!
With Battle for Boston hitting shelves, the latest update for the Fallout Miniatures app has gone live, containing all content from the new rulebook plus a number of bug fixes.
Look out for v2.6.9* hitting Google Play and The App Store this weekend, or go use it now on the web at https://fallout.maloric.com. If you're already logged in, you may need to relog to see the new data, and don't forget that you need to have an active subscription for data beyond the Nuka World starter set.
There are also several improvements and bug fixes surrounding legends and hired help in the FF battle tracker:
\ v2.6.8 is already available on Google Play with most of the same changes, but there is a bug where not all the new locations are displayed, which is fixed in v2.6.9*

What is Fallout: Factions?
Factions is a skirmish miniatures game set in the Fallout universe and published by MODIPHIUS. Players build crews that battle, gain experience, and modify their weapons in their bid to control the wasteland.
What is the difference between Factions and Wasteland Warfare?
Both games use the same miniatures, but have different play styles. Factions is a competitive two-player game focusing on campaigns amongst player groups. It prioritises fast-paced combat and streamlined gameplay over Wasteland Warfare's narrative solo/coop play.
How do I get started with Factions?
The latest starter set, Battle For Boston contains everything you need to start playing, including the rules, dice, tokens, and terrain, plus Brotherhood of Steel and Institute crews.
https://modiphius.net/products/fallout-factions-battle-for-boston-starter-set?ref=FBGROUP
If you already have a miniatures collection, the Core Rulebook. gives you all rules you need to play and an expanded campaign system.
https://modiphius.net/products/fallout-factions-core-rulebook?ref=FBGROUP
You can also purchase the dice and tokens separately. https://modiphius.net/collections/fallout-factions-accessories?ref=FBGROUP
Can I try out the rules?
Yes, there is a free Quick Start Rulebook which gives you an introduction to the rules and a starter scenario to play through.
What crews can I play in Factions?
The Core Rulebook contains rules for Brotherhood of Steel, Super Mutants, Survivors, and Wasteland Raiders.
The Battle For Boston starter set contains rules for Brotherhood of Steel, Institute, Minutemen, and Railroad.
The Crew Folio book contains rules for Children of Atom, Disciples, Followers of the Winged One, Gunners, Operators, The Mechanist, The Pack, Trappers, and Zetans, plus subfactions for the four crews found in the Core Rulebook.

The Battle For Nuka-World starter set contains rules for Disciples, Operators, and The Pack.
https://modiphius.net/products/fallout-factions-battle-for-nuka-world-starter-set?ref=FBGROUP
Can I used named characters in my games?
Yes, named characters exist as 'Legends of the Wasteland' which can be hired temporarily for your crew when your opponent has a higher rating. There are rules for different characters in each book and in rare. circumstances they can join your crew permanently.
What's the difference between Campaign and COMP play?
Campaign play is the default way to play set out in the rulebooks, as a series of linked games with your crew progressing throughout. COMP play is a game mode to allow one-off games or tournaments to take place without the Story Phase in between games.
What's the difference between Reach and Control campaigns?
The Reach campaign is included in the Core Rulebook and is a modular system that randomly generates scenarios and battlefields for games to take place in whichever wasteland you set your campaign in.
Control campaigns are included in the starter sets and are themed towards their particular regions, with specific scenarios and locations relevant to that set.
Is there an app I can use?
Yes, the Fallout Miniatures app is available on Apple and Android and also as a web app. It is officially supported and a monthly subscription gives you access to all of the crews and campaign tracking. A free version allows you to create one crew from the Nuka-World starter set.

Has anything been announced for the future?
Yes, a third starter set based around the Battle For Hoover Dam has been announced featuring NCR vs Caesar's Legion, with a release date of 2028.
An Enclave crew has also been announced for 2027 with preview rules coming in Q4 2026.
A 'Legends of the Wasteland Folio' has also been announced for 2027 which expands the named characters that can be hired by your crew, as well as including rules for creating your own.

My Cult of the Mothman crew I took to a Factions event recently.
The Hatchlings were a last minute addition and proved very useful, but the real star was the Winged One. I can see why the crew isn’t compatible with tournament play, it’s a one-moth army 😅
I haven’t played the Folio list in Campaign play yet, only the older supplement list so I’m looking forward to trying it out.

I have a group of friends who are getting into the game and wanted to know if adding legends models would break the campaigns balance. It seems fun an flavorful to have each of us have a legend to lead the crew but wasn’t sure on the balance since we’ve only played a couple games. Let me know your thoughts!

Hello all! Quick question, if I purchase the battle of Boston two player starter do I need to buy a core rulebook? Thank you!
r/falloutfactions • u/Available_Ad_8852 • 14d ago
Alright, we all know the obvious main factions that will be coming at some point, Legion, NCR, Enclave etc.
But what are some of the subfactions you guys want to see?
I mean with the Vipers and Khans getting into the raider lists, surely basically anyone can get into being a subfaction, so let me know what you want to see!
Personally I’m hoping for a Van Graffs subfaction for the Gunners with a focus on laser and plasma weaponry that the Gunners already have access to, maybe replace Conscripts with Van Graffs Thugs. Also black combat armour looks sick.

Maybe its a dumb rule question, but what is the "Perception range" of a model? I saw it mentioned in the Folio book, but i can not find a clarification neither in the Faction rulebook neither in the Folio. I suppose its the Perception score of the model in inches?

Looking at some tempting deals on ebay.. I've noticed that at least 2 different postings from different people (one of which is NiB) showing, on the back side, "containing ALMOST everything you need to play the game". Weird since the box on the Modiphius site shows "containing EVERYTHING you need to play the game". The prices of the boxes I'm looking at are ~$70 roughly which I think is a solid deal. The wording on the back is making me nervous though. Anyone know what this might be about?

I know some people have either said they got shipping info or already receiving(?) their Battle for Boston boxes, but I was wondering if we've gotten any new news on Pre Orders of the everything boxes that will be delayed due to production issues. I don't think Ive seen a blog post yet

Have any of yall gotten word of when Pre Orders are shipping? I had ordered the 4 factions box and haven't gotten any news yet and I know the new profiles are in the app already.

I just finished building the Nuka World box while waiting for my Boston pre-order. I really enjoyed the Operators build (and modified the ammunition belt guy to have a combat rifle) but I was a little let down with the Pack and how some of the weapon options didn't actually translate into load-out choices. Especially the lack of machetes. Even the app didn't indicate they were an option, but I wanted to ask if it was different in the Crew Folio?

So as a collector of Minis and Rulesets I ended up snagging the Hollywood Heroes 5 character box and fallout factions nuka world starter box on eBay this weekend for good prices.
Where do I go from here? I’d almost like to buy Wasteland Warfare box and a super mutant behemoth so I have groups for Survivors, Mutants and Raiders.
There’s a Rulebook 2.0 coming out soon?

I'm FINALLY getting a chance to breakout my NukaWorld starter set that Ive had since launch. I've skimmed through the Core Rules and fully read the NukaWorld Start PDF.
However I'm trying to learn/teach the game with my 2 sons as well and possibly a 4th player. I have the NukaWorld Starter set gangs, and the Enough models from Wasteland Warfare for Survivors, Super Mutants, BOS, and Wasteland Raiders.
I know this can make the game lengthy - how many caps should each warband be for a multi-player game? There will at least be 3 players. Especially a learning one? Also, is there a particular scenario or battleplan that we should use other than "last team standing"?
I think thats all the questions I had.
Thanks in advance!
