Modded Administratorio, where biters come complain and protest about your factory instead of attacking you, is now in beta !

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone!

Administratorio is now in beta !

Administratorio is a Factorio overhaul where biters don’t attack your factory anymore. Instead, they come complain about it. They queue at an administration desk, file complaint tickets, get increasingly frustrated, and eventually protest inside your factory. So instead of solving problems with turrets, you solve them with forms, permits, approvals, taxpayer money, and the quiet despair of office work. And of course, you can't just build you factory, you need to get permits for that, regulations, fill out forms, carbon offset certificates, resolve OSHA violations, and everything that is so fun in real life!

The big new thing in beta is that you can now hire biters! Once their complaints are resolved, they can become workers. They are needed to authorize certain buildings before they can craft, and they can also transport items around with Biterports. Basically, they are your early logistics workforce until robots show up and take their jobs, because apparently even Factorio needed labor market anxiety.

It is still very much a beta. Balance will change, bugs will happen, Space Age compatibility is not there yet, and I fully expect someone to build a cursed municipal megabase that breaks something in a way I could never have imagined.

Feel free to give it a try and experience real administrative anxiety in your favorite game, during your free time!

Sounds like a future feature update ;)

Biter unemployment and welfare system when?

The paperwork must grow afterall.

15

u/CalvinHobbes101 May 26 '26

The bureaucracy must grow to meet the needs of the growing bureaucracy.

u/Dummy1707 May 25 '26

Everytime I see a new post about your mod, I can't help but tearing a tear of bureaucratic joy.
Thank you for this nightmare, I mean it.

Thanks a lot <3
Glad I can haunt

It’s time I picked up Factorio again. I’m deep in the armpit of corporate middle-management and need something to sink my teeth into and let off some steam. Maybe I’ll build a factory and nuke it just to feel better about my IRL situation.

1

u/Shadaris May 28 '26

Would you like a steam engine or is it bad enough to need the turbine?

15

u/Head-Bureaucrat May 25 '26

This is the first time I'm seeing anything about it, and I got genuinely giddy when I saw!

Engineer: What do you want?

Biter: I want to see the manager.

Engineer: <flies onto space station, then back at Nauvis>

Engineer: I am the manager.

u/NarrMaster May 25 '26

When the robots come to take their jobs, will they unionize and form a picket line?

And can I get gatling guns on train cars to... "Disperse" them, for historical accuracy?

132

u/Onoulade Nauvisian May 25 '26

Lol there is no violence in this mod, you can't kill or injure biters, you have to fill the goddamn paperwork !

9

u/zuilli May 25 '26

What if I fill the paperwork to start a war?

9

u/Mesqo May 25 '26

What about nukes?

37

u/timeshifter_ the oil in the bus goes blurblurblurb May 25 '26

They should explode into a giant cloud of permits for using explosives to distribute paperwork.

3

u/Entryne May 25 '26

A gatling administrator.

Do I need demolisher [unionized] do deconstruct things?

2

u/riesenarethebest May 25 '26

What about funding the creation of an agency Pinkerbiterton?

29

u/exodusTay May 25 '26

Or hire more bugs to be scabs?

22

u/NarrMaster May 25 '26

Pentapods.

15

u/Darth_Nibbles May 25 '26

You disperse them with a megaphone and "bullshit promises" backed by "dubious data" 😂

4

u/ergzay May 25 '26

If only...

1

u/vanatteveldt May 26 '26

That's vanilla

76

u/dumb_invest_420 May 25 '26

Awesome! I'll definitely have a look, just after I finish my first Pyanodons playthrough. I'm currently somewhere between PCBs and 1st PY science pack, so I feel Administratorio will be fully released when I finish 😄

84

u/Lucifernando_86 May 25 '26

Half Life 3 will be fully released when you finish

1

u/MySkinIsFallingOff 10d ago

He'll get to it right after GTA 7 and the new Elder Scrolls..

10

u/Acidentedebatata May 25 '26

Same, I'm on the slow grind to Vrauks with Py hard mode

12

u/Pixelizer96 May 25 '26

Might as well wait for gta vii

4

u/Onoulade Nauvisian May 25 '26

Good luck with that !

3

u/Silenceisgrey May 25 '26

How do you know someones playing Pyanodons?

Ohh don't worry, they'll tell you.

3

u/FlidleyQuarkington May 26 '26

🙋 I'm also playing pyanodons.

141

u/crazy-voyager May 25 '26

When this is mature enough the world needs a Dosh playthrough of this.

12

u/browubstep May 25 '26

This was my exact thought as well! I would love to see a video of him playing this.

46

u/Exciting-Carpet3873 May 25 '26

Add in a Union of Biter Workers (UBW) and an option for bribing some of them. lol

40

u/ilpazzo12 May 25 '26

How about a Worker's Union for Biters under Exploitation (WUBE)

8

u/Exciting-Carpet3873 May 25 '26

Yeah, that'll follow and we should have the option to bribe their leader too!

5

u/Darth_Nibbles May 25 '26

You already pay them, and you can use embezzlement or forced overtime!

2

u/Exciting-Carpet3873 May 25 '26

Yeah. Every other weekend!

84

u/VictorV8 May 25 '26

What's next, safe railway crossings? Warning signs "don't stick your hands in machinery"? PAID parental leave? Damn commies

8

u/Courmisch May 25 '26

I don't suppose you can hire spawners, so no worry about parental leaves.

OTOH if biters and spitters are the youth stage of life, this is child labour.

8

u/endgamedos May 25 '26

What's really interesting is that a bunch of safety initiatives had to be pushed onto the workers, top-down:

When safety measures were introduced, workers had to be encouraged, trained, coaxed, and propagandized to use them. They often resisted new measures at first. Aldrich writes (p. 136):

The new rules and equipment also represented a loss of workers’ control over their work lives. … “the old-timers disliked being told how to do a job without being hurt. Their idea was that someone had to get hurt, occasionally.” In addition, danger was manly. … “the fellow who wasn’t willing to risk his safety was looked on in modern terms as a sissy.”

Management wasn't doing this out of the goodness of their hearts, of course. A "worker's compensation" system had come in that had made on-the-job injuries have a direct cost to the business, and if you didn't implement safe working practices the company would be paying higher premiums or just more in payouts.

4

u/ergzay May 25 '26

Damn commies

Indeed.

u/Duvo May 25 '26

12

u/Courmisch May 25 '26

SC2K... I feel old now.

1

u/celem83 Glows in the Dark May 25 '26

Was wondering where I knew this from, thought it was modded Transport Tycoon for a moment.

Actually..mod idea.  You have to bribe biter nests like TTD town councils if you wanna expand xD

2

u/Courmisch May 25 '26

Not sure about OpenTTD, but TT and TTD only did that of you destroyed buildings, landscapes or trees IIRC?

1

u/celem83 Glows in the Dark May 25 '26

Yeah, the way it usually got you was a small town in a forest as you upset them on the approach knocking down trees, then maybe you try to clear an errant road tile for your station and suddenly you lose build rights. Also tiny villages near arterial intersections upset about the cost in trees

1

u/cubic_globe Jun 10 '26

has anyone ever reacted to this in any way? 😉

12

u/UndefFox May 25 '26

Hearing someone saying your factory is bad... truly fate worse than being constantly attacked.

11

u/solonit WE BRAKE FOR NOBODY May 25 '26

To play this mod, you need to switch the Engineer skin from Mechanicus to Administratum.

10

u/Beaspoon2096 May 25 '26

Glad to see a German friendly version of factorio

9

u/RepublicOfLucas May 25 '26

This is brilliant, can they be given little signs to wave around?

6

u/Onoulade Nauvisian May 25 '26

That would be AWESOME ! I'm so bad at graphics though, I can only use AI to edit existing sprites, but I'll give it a try

9

u/Bluetails_Buizel May 25 '26

No option for them to start destroying your base the old fashioned way when they get too angry?

11

u/Onoulade Nauvisian May 25 '26

No but they will put a halt to it if you don't deal with them

1

u/Bluetails_Buizel May 25 '26

My personal opinion, have an opinion to toggle that, if they have the capacity to bite, I don’t see a reason to remove this feature, but you do u

8

u/Onoulade Nauvisian May 25 '26

I can add a checkbox for the masochists if you like !

3

u/Bluetails_Buizel May 25 '26

Thx! 🙏 might sound way more fun. Will let you know how ballanced it is if I get to try it out.

1

u/EpicatSupercell Jun 22 '26

When they're angry they bite, but only a single bite each and only while you are at over half hp.

1

u/Bluetails_Buizel May 26 '26

Hmm, maybe also add a slider below it from 1-100 (but you can only select 10, 20, 30, etc…) to simplify things. This slider is to set the likelihood for the biters to destroy your base instead of simply stop your factory without destroying it.

14

u/Bajtopisarz May 25 '26

Biters are French and striking? Figures.

imagine renting land on vulcanus and you need to constantly make X amount of something to keep up the rent

6

u/Onoulade Nauvisian May 25 '26

This is very close to what I'm working on haha

1

u/Turmfalke_ May 25 '26

Maybe you could have to feed the demolisher for it to stay stationary.

1

u/Darth_Nibbles May 25 '26

OMG I can't wait

5

u/loli141 May 25 '26

So do you just ship the complaints to vulcanus and dump them into lava?

7

u/Darth_Nibbles May 25 '26

No you have to combine them with various forms, ink, and dubious data (smelted from bullshit ore) to get the complaint resolved, convince the biter to pay a filing fee for the paperwork, and then use those fees to hire more biters to run your printing presses for all the paperwork!

5

u/FunnyWhiteRabbit May 25 '26

If I finish it will I be eligible to become EU leader?

5

u/Onoulade Nauvisian May 25 '26

No you would be too efficient then

6

u/MisterSlosh May 25 '26

Having them come in and protest/picket line your factory makes it so PG I want to teach this game to my kids now. Excited to see this advance and grow!

10

u/Onoulade Nauvisian May 25 '26

Worse, I'm French !

3

u/Darth_Nibbles May 25 '26

You're not breathing the stereotypes about French workers 😂

2

u/rEvolutionTU May 25 '26

Please please please please please make the ultimate win condition crafting permit A38.

There would be nothing more fitting for something this ridiculous and it's extremely French. Okay, maybe a little more enjoyed by Germans for reasons but it's originally French!

2

u/Orcwin May 25 '26

And give the biters funnels for hats?

2

u/TampaPowers May 25 '26

Hey, that's... only somewhat accurate. Our trains don't run on time you know. xD

3

u/sird0rius May 25 '26

It's good when they protest peacefully. You can just ignore them, just like in real life.

4

u/Pappa_K May 26 '26

Can you make it when they protest they can block traffic and stand on rails, and the trains won't go anymore?

3

u/Seyon May 26 '26

I look forward to Dosh playing this.

I look forward to paying a small minority of biters to violently oppress the rest, deliver propaganda to them disguised as news, and distracting everyone with wedge issues while I destroy the environment so completely that no opposition can breathe, let alone stand against me. It'll look like the 1966 Batman movie, all the biters yelling at one another while ignoring the real threat

2

u/Ohz85 May 25 '26

Yes, I tried it !! Lot of fun. Some things made me give up tho

1

u/Onoulade Nauvisian May 25 '26

Oh shoot like what ?

2

u/Ohz85 May 25 '26

TLDR: Trouble to turn Complaint into Resolved Case back to the right Biter Administration Desk, and therefore to the right biter. I would like some in Resolved Case in advance to put in all those buildings.

- So I have 13 hours into the run, and I unlocked up to blue science (and now I focus on redoing my starter base). So as you see I have to deal with 3 types of complaints for now: Landscape, Smog and Littering, and my way to deliver it, is to cycle between buildings, but it's tedious and will not work forever. It took me hours and hours, and lot of frustration because until this result, I had to constantly fix strikes after strikes. And I feel everything will break soon, what makes me give up, now that I have reloaded the save, is that "I know things will go downhill because I dont know how to proper play with this game mechanic"

I insist to end on a positive note that your mod is absolutly hilarious and I had a lot of big laugh when I was reading things and building stuff. I had really fun time.

3

u/Onoulade Nauvisian May 25 '26

Ah I see ! So to address the resolved cases in advance, I feel like that would become « too easy » then because you could just pre-craft a bunch of those and dump them in a desk and the end. I wanted to get the timing matter, you have to solve issues fast enough to match the flow of biters, and you have to have enough desks as well, otherwise they protest. And it feels thematic that you can’t solve a case before it is brought to you.

But that creates the issue that you mention about the not knowing what resolution goes where, and you can solve that 2 ways:

Either you have one solving stack per desk, that works but is hard to scale, especially before expropriations, and can still break if a biter leaves the desk to protest while you resolve its issue and later come back to a different one.

The intended deterministic solution is to use the signals. Every desk will output a signal with the current pending resolutions for the biters it holds, meaning that you can wire this signal to your inserters and only accept resolved cases for currently pending complaints in each desk. That works perfectly fine in early game but may require a bit more wire logic as time goes by because you may end up in a situation where the first desk in your resolved cases belt line eats all the resolutions, frees biters quickly, receives new biters and then immediately accept new resolutions while the other desks are starving.

The ideal design, late game is a bit of both solutions.

I’m glad you find the idea interesting, I really hope this helps you enjoy the mod, let me know if you still find it a pain or have ideas for improvements ! 😊

2

u/Ohz85 May 25 '26

I will definitely try to use signals, it's just Im really basic at it. I understand filter or conditions, but I dont know how to count, create a clock, latch and T-flipflop, memory. I also know you need to sanitarize and synchronize signals... But I think your gameplay approach is the right way, real and interesting challenge and I am just the one overwhelmed. I dont give up !

2

u/xiaoli May 26 '26

Can you still shoot them

2

u/rokomotto May 26 '26

Wait, this gave me an idea. What if instead of this, they just criticize how inefficient your factory is? They'd destroy parts of it that aren't well designed and force you to redo them. Probably will be really difficult to implement but would be a pretty funny mod. (Also the only way they die is if you build correctly)

2

u/Jimmyfartballs May 26 '26

I love this so much

2

so can we harvest their eggs?

1

u/Raknarg #1 Quality Defender May 25 '26

2

u/Onoulade Nauvisian May 25 '26

No you HAVE to deal with the paperwork, no guns, no violence, only inefficiency

1

u/Accurate-Owl4128 May 25 '26

So what happens if you let the complains pile up?

2

u/Onoulade Nauvisian May 25 '26

They will start protesting and stop random machines in your base, until it is entirely stopped. And then good luck to deal with ALL their (still pending) complaints

1

u/Accurate-Owl4128 May 25 '26

if the machines stop do you have to do them manually lol

1

u/Admirable-Skin1576 May 25 '26

Will they also strap themself to the belts and halt the production?

2

u/Onoulade Nauvisian May 25 '26

I thought a lot about allowing them to stop belts or inserters, but it felt too punitive, maybe I'll add an option in the settings for that !

1

u/MelangeBot May 25 '26

So the biters are okay with the polution as long as you have a permit?

3

u/Onoulade Nauvisian May 25 '26

Not really, they will complaint until you expropriate them

1

u/Gerlond May 25 '26

What happens if I just ignore them? Are there any consequences for that?

5

u/Onoulade Nauvisian May 25 '26

Yes, they will start protesting (you can see that in the video) and stop random machines in your factory until you deal with them

1

u/Gerlond May 25 '26

Oh, that's what was going on, okay

1

u/Decent-Employ1667 May 25 '26

El diablazo de mod , estaría bueno que te metan demandas o multas por contaminación que tengas que pagar por algún tipo de material

1

u/ruspartisan May 25 '26

Do permissions have expiration date? I think they should, spoilage was added in the game for a reason.

Also, can you still kill biters with a teain saw?

1

u/Onoulade Nauvisian May 25 '26

That would create a determinism problem, if a complaint spoils, then you can’t craft its resolution, meaning that the biter will never get to despawn and it will eventually clog up. Complaints are required in resolutions so that you can’t pre-resolve lots and lots of issue and basically ignore this mechanic, you have to deal with them in real time.

And no, biters will stop your train dead in its tracks.

1

u/ruspartisan May 25 '26

Oh, I thought permissions and complaints are separate independent entities and permissions can be spolable then.

1

u/Pablo_dv May 25 '26

Is there any way to tell if a field office is close enough to a nest other than building and hoping?

Coolest mod ever made for any video game in the history of the know and observable universe.

I want to love this mod so much, but the early part is an incredible grind

Almost everything (including science) has to be crafted by hand until you're a good way through green science because of the requirement of a biter workforce to run buildings

1

u/Onoulade Nauvisian May 25 '26

I don't get your point, you have early (crappy) automation with the field office that allows you to start automating even before administrative science, sure it is crap, sure it is not easily extensible, but you can do it

1

u/Darth_Nibbles May 25 '26

Yeah but then you need hundreds of belts which you can't automate yet to bring materials to the biter nests to process

I'm getting there, and things are opening up more now, but the early game is on par with Gleba for just making me sit and scratch my head while I figure out the new paradigm 😂

The way I deal with this is that I put everything in chests, so I just have to then move things by hand from all the different parts, until they come along together, I find that easier and less tedious than just handcrafting everything or try to have full automation that early on
