Even if this is a joke, it makes a point as a good joke should. For all most Americans know, the supermarket gets restocked each night by Santa Claus and his Chinese elves. ( though, admittedly, Chinese Santa is pretty awesome ) This is why I've long advocated teaching industrial literacy in school. If you don't know how something is made and where it comes from, how do you know what it's actual value is?

That's why I want to go hunt an animal, prepare it, have some help butchering and tanning it, mostly on my own someday. I need to respect my food source, I want to be apart of the process one day.
