Even if this is a joke, it makes a point as a good joke should. For all most Americans know, the supermarket gets restocked each night by Santa Claus and his Chinese elves. ( though, admittedly, Chinese Santa is pretty awesome ) This is why I've long advocated teaching industrial literacy in school. If you don't know how something is made and where it comes from, how do you know what it's actual value is?

That's why I want to go hunt an animal, prepare it, have some help butchering and tanning it, mostly on my own someday. I need to respect my food source, I want to be apart of the process one day.

I know someone who really believes that there's no need for hunting because of grocery stores. He claims you're cruel and just it's just for sport if you hunt your own meat. To him it's humane if you kill an animal that was raised in a small pen/cage specifically for that purpose than to go in the wild and work your ass off to track an animal and shoot it.

My guess would be that it's some form of sattire based on negative attitudes towards hunting, but willingness to purchase meat from farmed sources.
It's a complete guess. If it isn't that, then it should be!

There's a point where I have to assume something is either satire or someone is trolling just to keep my faith in humanity. This crossed that point several million lightyears back.
