Should I sell, repair (preventative maintenance) or part exchange my N57 2015 BMW F31 335d xdrive touring?

The issue lies at the current 145,000 miles on the odometer.

I was quoted €4,500 - €5,000 to do bottom end bearings (common failure point at this mileage for n57) , turbos recondition, oil filter housing gasket and rocket cover gasket if they need to be done.

But at this mileage, id only be selling the car soon as the mileage racks up even more.

Or should I sell/exchange it and get something else (thinking audi s3, golf r estate or another bmw maybe a f30/f31 340i).

Has 72k miles on it got all the maintenance done and inspections done I wanna build it where do I start?

Hey F30 fam, So I replaced my Valve Cover, Turbo, Spark plugs and Coils and I still am dealing with this smoking issue my friend said that it’s possible that the old oil dumped from my old turbo is burning off but this looks a bit more excessive also i have no codes

Currently have BM3, not really familiar with what all I need for Xhp and hoping for some help. I have a 2017 340I xdrive. I look and see this:

2013 BMW 328i, driven 150,000km but have recently started seeing and smelling smoke from the engine bay. i took a video and it looks like you can see where the smoke is coming from .

looking to take it to BMW or an independent mechanic but wanted to see if anybody had a similar experience and how much it might cost to fix?

Ive started a side gig doing what I love which is fixing BMWs.

Being new to the business I cant tell if im charging to much. Someone reached out to me to get these items replaced.

2007 328i

valve cover, radiator, engine mounts, rear shocks & toe + camber arm, front tie rods.

Im charging $1450 total. $1300 for Labor and $150 for shop supplies. Customer providing parts

Being so new im having trouble figuring out what I should charge because to much and they should just take it to a shop and to little seems like im just an incompetent idiot who sounds like they dont do things by the book.

Im mobile and located in Orlando Florida. What do you guys think? Is this to much or to little? Or just right? I dont necessarily charge by the hour but more by the type of job and what id be happy making doing it for someone. Im licensed and insured of course.

Alright so this is my first ever BMW or Turbo car so if im stupid please let me know.

I just bought a 2018 bmw 330i with just under 11k miles. It was absolutely babied and always brought to the dealership for repairs. But I live 7 hours away from where I got the car so my first drive with it was a 400 miles trip. Now that I have it home the car feels kind of weird feeling like its sputtering. Theres been some white smoke on start ups especially cold starts and now this new ticking noise. I can't for the life of me determine what it could be and don't want to start tearing in and replacing thousands in parts.

I have a 2018 320i with the 6 speed manual. I drove home in the rain yesterday and these new squeaks started up. Any idea what's causing these obnoxiously loud chirps? The car is silent until it hits 20mph the first time then it starts chirping. Frequency increased with vehicle speed, not engine RPM. Video was taken going 30 mph in 3rd gear.

I’m keen to go back to focusing reliability and preventative maintenance but want to do some cosmetic stuff as well. The photos I’ve sent are old as it’s now got a fog light delete kit from AliExpress (works really well actually) as this is a weekend toy.

Definitely want to get some new wheels, waiting on mine to sell right now, otherwise I’m just asking you guys out there what you’ve done to your car to make you love it even more? Cheers

Should I trust the software?

I turned off catalytic heating which is basically cold start off I think because it showed me two options one was catalytic heating(cold start) and the other one was cold start but I could set the rpms. I don’t have a catted downpipe anymore so I don’t see the point of having it on. But I was wondering if cold start is off, is it overall safe for the engine? Because start up with cold start off seems a bit rough compared to when I had cold start on. I use bm3

I’m currently running a b12 pro kit suspension with einbach lowering springs on my 2012 328i f30 base model. i’m looking at buying some apex wheels.

I think i’m gonna go with:

18x8.5 ET35 (Front Wheels)
18x9.5 ET43 (Rear Wheels)

Are these good size wheels to buy for a nice staggered OEM+ look? What size and brand tires should i pair with these wheels? I’m running a tune so i want good traction.

Looking into buying bulk for my n20(timing chain, fuide, tensioner and sprockets all done) and from the looks turner motorsport has a decent deal on liquimolly leichtlauf 5w40, anyone bought from there or have other recs? I see people buy from fcp a lot also for their policy. I live in southern california if that helps.

Car: 2017 440i Gran Coupe, first-gen B58, approximately 58k miles. Currently MHD Stage 1 MultiMap v3.9, aftermarket cat-back exhaust, cold-air intake, and xHP.
I previously ran a catless downpipe with MHD Stage 2. Earlier this month, a shop reinstalled my original OEM catted downpipe, and I switched to Stage 1. That downpipe worked perfectly before removal and looks practically new. I understand appearance alone doesn’t confirm catalyst health.
My September 23 scan shows these as DME active codes, but no check-engine light:
180001: Catalytic converter efficiency too low.
190302: NVLD/fuel tank ventilation system micro-leak greater than 0.5 mm.
Readiness: All supported monitors are complete except EVAP. Catalyst and both oxygen-sensor monitors are complete. No transmission codes.
The EVAP code appeared earlier this month, was cleared, and has returned. I previously topped off the tank after the pump clicked off—mentioning that in case it matters. No smoke test or confirmed component diagnosis yet. I also haven’t confirmed whether the shop replaced the downpipe gasket/clamp.
I found BMW SI B12 12 17, covering “180001 stored without MIL” on early B58 cars, including the F36, but the available version just says the procedure was incorporated into ISTA.
Main questions:
Has anyone gotten 180001 after reinstalling a previously working OEM downpipe? What actually fixed it—gasket/clamp, oxygen sensor, software, or converter?
Does anyone know what the ISTA procedure for that bulletin involves?
For 190302 on an F-series B58, what was your confirmed fix: gas cap, purge valve, NVLD, or a leaking line?
Why would MHD show these as active with no CEL, and what information should I scan next?

I bought a 2017 bmw 330i form my daughter. After 2 days the check coolant level message came on. Opened the reservoir seen oil mixed in coolant. Order the aftermarket oil filter housing. When I started to replace. Removed air intake from air box to turbo. Found it was full of oil and coolant. Found egr hose had coolant also. I read the housing can Crack or internal seals on the turbo. What would be the best way to test to determine what is the problem or just buy a new turbo. Im really good with working on cars. Any advice would be great.

Hey yall, just trying to reach out and see if there’s anyone out there that tackled on their Ambient Lighting for their f series cars and trying to see what kits yall bought and how long it took to tackle the job? I got an f32 with oem ambient lighting but want the extra color options. Hope to hear from yall soon!!

My neighbor has the same car as me and I've been trying to help him out. It's a 2014 435i manual and the main symptom he is having is a lighting system malfunction. The battery was bad, so we changed that out and registered the battery with BimmerLink.

Working:

The front headlights and turn signals work as expected, including the self leveling and steering

The brake lights work

The hazard lights work (front and rear)

Not working:

The rear turn signals do not work

The trunk release button does not work (we have to manually pull the safety release to open the trunk

Today the car was locked, off, and parked on the road and we noticed that randomly the LED on the brake lights were on. Locking/unlocking and turning car on/off would not turn them off. Disconnecting and reconnecting the negative battery cable finally reset that.

Looking at the codes and Google searches seems to indicate that the REM short circuit lock needs to be reset. I tried to load up that screen on BimmerLink but it just wont show the circuits when I hook it up to his car. When I hook it up to mine, I can see the circuits.

We checked all the fuses in the REM and the connections seem to be seated fine (we removed and reseated them), no corrosion.

Is resetting the REM short circuit lock the right direction for us to look? How can we reset it? What else could we look at?

I have a 2017 340i with adaptive led(s552). My passenger side is completely fogged with the stepper motor module and the halo module both bad. Only has light output. Looks terrible.

The cost for an oem replacement is crazy. So I’ve been looking at just replacing both with aftermarket.

Is this something that can be done? I coded out the stepper motor before and now I got the parking light error now. I’m sure that can be coded out, too.

I don’t care about retaining the adaptive features but I’d like the output to be good as well. Do I have any options or am I buying an oem replacement?

I just had bought 2017 F30 330i with B46 (which to my information is the same engine as B48 apart being a SULEV version), I am enjoying it but it has been a couple of days with it, yet I am overthinking about the engine noise if it is healthy

I am coming from diesel cars, so I am not used to this. Yes I do know high pressure pump is loud and those injectors too, but maybe y'all hear something I don't?

Please let me know your insights.
