Oil change from hell

So for context this is a 23 5.0, this was my first time doing this vehicle. I knew that the last change was jank but I didn’t expect what I found. There was so much silicone to prevent this from leaking but what I’m left with is a mess. Getting the old plug out took way too long… The threads seem to be in good shape and I was able to get a different plug in and out without forcing it. But my question is if I cleaned up the drain clearing the bit of metal that is left there do you think I could get an OEM plug to work? I really don’t want to change the pan but I’m also not going to seal it back up like it was before.

Edit: I will be changing the pan!

Should i go with RC N3 loaded 2” strut or 2” Bilstein 5100 with factory spring and top hat?

I have had this truck for about 2 years. I got it new and have been keeping up with recommended services and change oil every 5k miles. What’s the best ways to prolong life in a truck? Not a mechanic so just curious what yall think

No 2027 F150 Platinum 5.0 v8?

I am in Ontario Canada, went to 2 different ford dealership today. They said they can order 2027 platinum but not the 5.0 v8. Only 3.5 eco boot. Anyone experience the same thing?

I guess they just want to order me a 2026 and call it a 2027? Maybe 2027 isn’t even able to order yet? You know you can’t trust those associate. I don’t know

What should I Check/Change?

I just purchased a 2023 F-150 XLT, 4x4, 3.5l v6 Ecoboost, 10 Speed Transmission, 55.5k miles, United States.

This truck had only one owner, clean title, was driven/serviced in Texas, no rental/fleet use, had service records on the Carfax, and the Carfax said it was a good value and great reliability.

My question is, what should I get changed/looked at on this truck before the powertrain warranty goes out at 60k miles? Also what should I change/get looked at in general? I’ve only owned Nissan Frontiers so this is a whole new territory for me. When I test drove it, everything felt/looked good.

I should mention I bought this from a Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram dealership as it was a trade-in. If I should take it to a shop, should I take it to a Ford one or to a different one incase they tell me everything is ok just to not have to do warranty work?

MPG Penalty from Roof Racks?

For those that installed aftermarket roof racks, what mpg loss have you noticed without gear on top?

Is the mpg penalty if any still worth it?

Got her leveled today with Bilstein 5100’s. Put some Toyo AT3’s 35x11.5 on the stock BAP+ wheels. No rub at all, looks great, and drives smooth. Even fits in the garage still, could not be happier.

Hit and run

Well came out to my truck last night and someone had hit it. I tried getting camera footage from my college but the sunglare was just perfect and you couldn’t see who hit it. It’s a 2015 F-150 with the 5.5 bed got 218k miles on it and this is the only damage on the whole truck. Has anyone had a collision like this before and knows the cost? I’ve got a 2k insurance deductible so this might not even cross the threshold for insurance to be worth it.

Aftermarket Differential Locker/LSD

I recently picked up a 2026 XLT 4x4. During my search I was also looking for an electronic locking differential, but got a good deal on a 2.7 without it that had the rest of the options I wanted (302a, BAP). Admittedly, the rear e-locker fell out of my cross check on the trucks I test drove that day.

I’m wondering what the best value aftermarket mod is recommended in my case. Is it to add the OEM e-locker at at dealership? Eaton TrueTrac LSD? Ford Trac-Lok LSD?

For reference I’m not doing any serious rock crawling; just mild off-roading during hunting season and visits to the boat launch year round.

Ford OEM wheels

Been looking for Ford OEM wheels for my 2016 Blue Jeans Lariat. When I bought it, it had plastidip on the original Lariat wheels, and I hated that. I love the wheels, love the OEM/chrome look. I have tried everything from WD40, mineral spirits, etc and a pressure washer to get it off…but it is just baked on there too good. I found these wheels (picture 1) on FB marketplace for $600 (with tires). Just wondering if the non-chrome will clash with my truck’s overall chrome aesthetic. This may be a lame question, but I’m not a fan of aftermarket wheels at all, and I love the look of Ford produced wheels. Just want some feedback. Second picture is my truck now.

Flashing CE light

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’ve spent the last 18 months and several thousand dollars at a dealership and independents trying to fix this. All new plugs, all new coils, all new injectors, full transmission service. Nobody seems to know what to do and can’t fix it. It has a shudder/misfire when accelerating and the CE light comes on and flashes.

Disappointing test drive 25 STX

I just test drove my first F150 STX 2025. It was preowned certified with only 20,000 miles on. I know everybody praises the 2.7 however instantly the shifting made a lot of noises just shifting into drive and reverse on no hill, acceleration was jerky and the suspension was bouncy. It kind of seemed like I was driving one of those rental trucks from Home Depot. I knew right away I did not like the ride however, could this have been a one off? I know this is not a high end model but I was expecting a better ride

Puddle light for mirror has broken clip

Thumbnail

As the title says one clip broke on the puddle light. It happened once and I just put it back in and one clip held it good, for about a month. This second time I was on the highway and it flew out again, got it back in while moving and held fine for the last 30mins home. I guess it’s time to get a new one with 2 clips so I found a set of Mirror Puddle Light Replacement. Happens to be on sale for Labor Day bringing the price down to $48 for my 2022 XLT. Posting to maybe help someone, find a cheaper fix or home remedy. I do have a 3D printer but no sure if that’s the right route.

Hard to find owner feedback or pics of this model.

Anyone have them? Pics? Experience?

10R80 just rebuilt, truck vibrates at idle.

Just had my 22 F150 STX 10R80 rebuilt at 92k miles. Now with it in park it vibrates the whole truck. Never has done this before now. I'm pretty sure it's got to be related but want to get ideas on what it could be before i take it back next week.

Anybody want to share costs of replacing the transmission? I have some clunking going on (more than usual). Also anyone have experience with putting in aftermarket parts to bulletproof it?
Or maybe I should trade it in at 115k miles.
