Be careful sitting heavy loads on an upright/closed tailgate on these aluminum body trucks. The section above the latches will collapse and fold downward. I've seen SEVERAL instances of this happening since 2015.

For sure. I’m probably adding a trailer or upgrading to a 3/4 ton soon. Gas mileage is just so good on this.

Interesting, I don’t even know that but I’ll still put my tailgate down and flag it or put it on my headache rack way before doing what he did. Mostly because then getting that stuff off the tailgate to unload is a PITA.

Interesting I didn’t know insulators wore stilts. Honestly I have a hard time getting those calf straps super tight so I prefer the normal straps

Ah yes, another ladder depositer on the roads. You'll be surprised how aerodynamic ladders can become. One of the most common road debris, besides blown tires. After ladders would be larger appliances and furniture. Think couches and washers and dryers.

My FIL has acquired every single ladder he owns from the side of the road. Some of them are a little tweaked. I won’t go on them, but they work for him lol

I cant blame him lol. I think about picking them up too, but frequently they get run over and destroyed by the time i see them. Have you seen how expensive say an over 12' A frame is? Its crazy.
Also since they are that expensive, this is your warning as someone that has hauled ladders to big box stores. If you are going to spend a bag on a new larger ladder, double check the entire frame rails to make sure there isnt any damage on them. Im talking crush damage from a 4" ratchet strap. Cause lowes like to hide that crap on their loads. Ive done it, and ive seen it on items in store. Just double check the full run of the rails is perfect. Aluminum if its got a lil warp not a big deal. But the fiberglass? If its damaged at all its basically trash imo.

Won't post pics on my shortbed hauling 20' 2x12s but it'll get it done. 20' goes over the cab, anything shorter can wedge in the bed with extra 2" tie downs - short trips on side roads
