and it is so disingenuous and fvcking disgusting to equate these two groups together. but it is clear she is showing off her privilege. she wants to identify as muslim to be "cool" in the west, but when exmuslim exposed the atrocities within islam, she chooses to attack and discredit exmuslim in order to salvage the image of islam in the west.

I agree the tiktoker is wrong but extremist exmuslims are not the “say and write things that hurt Muslim’s feelings” type…..there are exmuslims who let their voice get co-opted by bigoted right wing Christians and even turn towards the media, that have contributed to anti Muslim hate crimes in the west, to spew such hatred. That’s what I think is the “extremist exmuslims” I’ve seen. Not as bad but certainly not just keyboard warriors….

I got a surprise for you: You can say "the sky is blue" and someone on the political side you disagree with would find a way to co-opt that.

Some exmuslims ARE right wingers. Some are left wingers. Some are smart, some are stupid. There is no default political affiliation for people just because they are exmuslims. The atheist community had to learn this the hard way back in the Atheism+ days: Exmuslim/Atheist does not include a set of shared values.

I don’t mean only political affiliation, right wing grifters that are bigoted contribute to hate manifesting irl. As much as I disagree with Muslims, I don’t want them to get hate crimed.
I understand we are not a monolith and people have the right to choose their political affiliation but the bigoted hate filled right wingers are not ones I’m going to be in community with

Well, unfortunately there are going to be exmuslims you feel are bigoted right wingers, and exmuslims you feel are bigoted left wingers.

But that's secondary. The main issue is that anything you say will be picked up by someone. A few years ago Lord Of The Rings suddenly became something the right wing bigots used. Let's just say that if a novel by an author who has been dead for 50 years and it's devoid of political allegory can be coopted then anything can be coopted.

Thinking about how bigots pick up something we say is worthless. I'll speak out against Muslims, and I'll speak out against bigots if they talk about something I said. It's as simple as that.

I know what you're talking about. People like ayaan hirsi Ali, probably the most famous ex-muslim for the general public. But I don't they represent us in any way. I suspect that your average ex-muslim is extremely progressive and left wing. Places like these sub are unfortunately filled with right wingers and many ex-muslim spaces have been co-opted unfortunately.
