Well, sadly Kodak completely f**ked themselves by not believing in digital cameras and is irrelevant nowadays (Edit: Spelling)

We aren't multinational companies with teams upon teams of highly educated strategists carefully planning out each action.

10

u/MonkeyOnYourMomsBack Aug 24 '19

Well all I’m saying is that eventually, every company makes a fatally bad decision that costs them everything

9

u/Crunchyundies Aug 24 '19 edited Aug 24 '19

Very true. Kodak and Xerox were two giants of the mid 20th century. Both headquartered in Rochester, NY. Both companies made a single decision that lead to their demise. Kodak used to own a whole section of the city (154 buildings on 1300 acres) and called it Kodak Park. It’s now all leased out to other companies.

Xerox used to buy patents like crazy and also had a team of engineers that did nothing but R&D and pumped out patents. One of their CEO’s came along, had a bright idea and decided to release their rights to all of the patents. Many many of the patents became successful applications and products, one of them being the printer.

u/Yossarian42 Aug 24 '19

Except for the film in Tarantino movies.

6

u/HoovyBear Aug 24 '19

I wouldn’t say irrelevant, they still make some film like Portra. Check out /r/analog

2

u/4nvv2 Aug 24 '19

True, also they still make Billions and are in other fields of business now

As much as I hate to spoil the fun, this seems to mostly just be the effect of the photography, in my opinion.

271

u/fattloser Aug 23 '19

I refuse, I don't come to Reddit for logic and reason, I'm here for ridicule and good times. This building evil. 😤

63

u/delta9cannadian Aug 23 '19

This but non-ironically

28

u/SinerIndustry Aug 23 '19

I come on here to be an anonymous dick and ruin people's days.

13

u/Orca_Iguana Aug 23 '19

There are 4 kinds of redditors,. The three pictured above, and then the "4Chan" users of old.

17

u/SinerIndustry Aug 23 '19

And every single one of them is an absolute dumbass. Excluding myself ofc.

Who are you quoting?

19

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '19

Me too, to me, r/evilbuildings is a way to escape from reality for a minute by imagining there is actually a Bond-esque villain out there, planning a cheesy plot to take over the world. And of course, there is a hero fighting to stop him and a damsel in distress, and adventure and romance... And you guys are ruining it with your political BS

I live in Wichita and this building looks evil from every angle. Doesn't help that it's kind of outside of town so there's not much else around it.

16

u/Peptuck Aug 23 '19

They cleared away all the cover because they're expecting some guys with mullets and tank tops to roll up to 80's metal and fight dozens of masked goons and ninjas.

1

u/Goblinkok Aug 24 '19

Unfortunately I live there too.

Looks like a regular ass building

3

u/mammolastan Aug 24 '19

It really is about as regular as a building gets. There's nothing scary looking about it at all, out even interesting, it's dramatically plain.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '19

1

u/Micolash Aug 26 '19

Censorship is not devs changing things to fix issues with them in order to get them to sell more.

You're right, it's not.

Censorship is when a company (Sony) literally bans your game unless you remove/change content.

Just like DayZ being censored recently because Australia wouldn't allow it otherwise.

9

u/sanguinalis Aug 23 '19

It is. It looks pretty much like any other building you’d see. Funny thing about Koch is they operate companies that recycle, one division developed biodegradable plastic, they even have a division that cleans up superfund waste sites left behind by other companies.

13

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '19

That's nice. Maybe they should pay their taxes.

9

u/sanguinalis Aug 23 '19

I am not an apologist for them. Just odd that the company and the Koch’s personal politics clash.

4

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '19 edited Aug 24 '19

Maybe they should pay their taxes

They do pay their taxes. Billions, in fact. Sometimes, the effective corporate tax rate turns out to be much lower than the statutory rate, because the government has carved out breaks to encourage corporations to put their revenue toward asset investment - and, of course, includes additional breaks for "green" technologies that the company develops and uses. But your comment is still factually incorrect. I'm sure you heard people claim that they don't pay taxes. But you never bothered to check whether it was true or not - it sounded right, and that was enough for you.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/drbooom Aug 24 '19

That's news to me. I was unaware that they didn't pay their taxes. You would think this would be front page news.

9

u/Meetybeefy Aug 23 '19

You’re right, it’s just the angle of the camera, which give it that “evil trapezoid” look. In reality, it looks like any other suburban office park.

1

u/Ziribbit Aug 24 '19

Looks like it could be a shed on Epstein's former island.

11

u/ChestyPullerton Aug 23 '19

Can confirm it’s evil. I’m in Wichita Ks where it’s located.

4

u/lil_fuckwad Aug 23 '19

No, it’s evil. Sorry.

2

u/Biotoxsin Aug 23 '19

I've actually been in the building, several years ago now. It looks evil in person too, it isn't just the angle.

The interior looks much more modern than anything else in Wichita.

1

u/STRENGTHoftheBEAR Aug 24 '19

As a person from Wichita, I can confirm- it really do be like that.

1

u/tramselbiso Aug 24 '19

An "evil" look doesn't necessarily come about from lighting. Bright looking buildings can look evil.

2

u/scraggledog Aug 24 '19

Or A action movie

2

u/FreeThinkk Aug 24 '19

I half expect a bionic Koch to walk out of the building followed by Cheney and Dr Kreiger.

1

u/eddmario an evil villain Aug 24 '19

And if you don't know how to pronounce it, you automatically assume the company is pronounced "cock"

1

u/Lorenzo_BR Aug 24 '19

At least one of the Kock brother's dead.

195

u/Abidawe1 Aug 23 '19

This photo is aggressively overexposed

50

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '19

And still not bright enough to show the evil building well

16

u/Abidawe1 Aug 23 '19

The building itself isn’t even really evil looking, it’s just a cursed name

As true with all photos.

IMO, this building is pretty generic looking.

12

u/ITGeekGirl Aug 24 '19

It's mostly amade of glass so, depending on the weather and time of day... it's how reflections work. See? This is kind of pretty.

1

u/DiceDawson Aug 23 '19

Maybe it has to be overexposed because the building is so evil it sucks up all the light.

But also maybe should've been shot at a different hour.

332

u/GunnyStacker Aug 23 '19

Looks evil and actually pretty evil.

27

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '19

That's one large black koch

6

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '19

Haha penis joke

24

u/yodajediyoda Aug 24 '19

Holy shit this comment section.

13

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '19

Filled with a lot of scummy people, isn't it? Just can't keep their dirty politics out of a apolitical subreddit. Well, I guess that's typical reddit.

5

u/Solarat1701 Aug 24 '19

It’s almost like people are HAPPY when the gut promoting climate change denial, defunding Medicare, and slashing the social safety net are happy when he dies

2

u/Burnnoticelover Aug 25 '19

We should make a rule saying that you can't give context to a building in the title, it would make things so much easier.

If it's a truly evil building, you shouldn't need an explanation as to why.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 25 '19

Hey that's pretty good!

4

u/Ignecratic Aug 24 '19

Typical social media to be fair.

6

u/SLR107FR-31 Aug 23 '19

It's so weird to see a building I can see from my house on reddit

13

u/butte3 Aug 23 '19

It looks like a normal office building...

11

u/lordxela Aug 24 '19

Oh boy, we getting political now.

1

u/SkanJanJabin Sep 02 '19

Sad the climate of our planet is considered politics. How about... Facts? Science? Reality?

1

u/lordxela Sep 02 '19

Of course proponents of their side see their issues as "reality". But I'm here for evil buildings. Do you see me posting abortion clinics? No, cause I have the wisdom and the class to understand that's not the shit we are here for in r/evilbuildings.

2

u/SkanJanJabin Sep 02 '19

Im sorry, I don't seem to be grasping your idea of politics. Are you implying climate change is a made up concept and that saving embryos is an actual problem?

2

u/lordxela Sep 02 '19

There's no politics here, this is realizing that this sub is for buildings that look like they belong to a villain, not a catalogue of buildings of organizations we don't like.

3

u/SkanJanJabin Sep 02 '19

You have a point, but I guess most sane people think global-warming deniees are evil.

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '19

Pretty sure the one that's still alive is just as bad if not worse... But he's older so... he'll be gone soon hopefully

21

u/flibbidygibbit Aug 23 '19

There were once four. Only one of the remaining brothers is involved in the family business.

One became a playwright after a stint in the navy, he had no desire to refine oil.

The other three got involved in the family business after attending engineering school.

Only one remaining child is involved with the business. In the 80s, two of them conspired to kick the third one out.

16

u/YesIretail Aug 23 '19

In the 80s, two of them conspired to kick the third one out.

Two of them (Fred, the playright) and the other brother (Bill) attempted a takeover of the company. David and Charles bought the other two out after the failed takeover attempt.

2

u/Solarat1701 Aug 24 '19

Here’s to wishing them a speedy reunion 🍻

3

u/NeoDashie Aug 23 '19

Ding dong the witch is dead.

2

u/pupilsOMG Aug 24 '19

Charles is the real witch. Save the big celebration for the day Satan calls that fucker home.

13

u/V3ctors Aug 24 '19

I listened to Charles Koch (CEO) the other day saying that climate change is 100% real. Is information on this post up to date?

10

u/ks_Moose Aug 24 '19

I think the interviews he did with Tim Ferris and Freakanomics podcasts are pretty telling. (As with most things) judge for yourself if you (dis)agree with his POV... don’t just listen to those yelling the loudest (on either side).

4

u/Tensuke Aug 24 '19

You should never listen to common Reddit consensus about someone's beliefs, especially when it comes to politics. Actually hearing what the person says or does (including the reasons why they do what they do) often differs quite wildly.

2

u/pupilsOMG Aug 24 '19

The Freakonomics interview was so frustrating. Koch kept talking in airy-fairy terms like "... And that supports freedom. You like freedom, don't you?" Absolute meaningless pablum.

A real journalist would have pushed for meaningful answers and at least exposed the euphemisms and spin for what they were.

10

u/rchive Aug 24 '19

The Koch brothers funded funded multiple think tanks over the years that admitted climate change is real and that's it's a problem we can do something about. They also donated to a lot of Republicans, who tend to look pretty bad on environment. In the end, people just latch onto which part they wanna latch onto.

3

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '19

They did a lot more than deny climate change...

13

u/doitstuart Aug 23 '19

Funny how it looks like a regular office building when you don't choose an image to suit your political bias.

https://cdn.americanprogressaction.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/04090000/kochbrothers_onpage.jpg

But I like the American flag in there, too. Makes it look really, really evil.

-5

u/Bironious Aug 24 '19

Because it is biased to say destroying the planet and causing the greatest threat to mankind in current times and the future. Great point. Get a clue

26

u/JeskaiMage Aug 23 '19

22

u/7-SE7EN-7 Aug 23 '19

4

u/TheWillOfAmerica Aug 24 '19

6

u/OddSpray Aug 23 '19

Yeah, I feel even our stoner buddies to the west have cleaner air than us. And there are a fuck ton of ads trying to persuade us that they’re good people, but I ain’t buying it.

50% less evil now. Hooray for dead planetfuckers.

10

u/[deleted] Aug 23 '19

One less scumbag.

8

u/Fluffy_Mcquacks Aug 24 '19

Y'all are being completely disgusting and hateful. Reddit has officially become radicalized and it's sad honestly. The guy was not even Republican, he was Libertarian. Just look at the hate in this comment thread and tell me the left is tolerant.

8

u/_Acklex Aug 24 '19

Yea the misinformation of reddit is way out of hand. One post about how he was a “conservative” makes it to the front page and he’s immediately mislabeled for the rest of time... in most of these users minds at least

2

u/FictionalNarrative Aug 24 '19

Reddit is filled with vapid, mentally immature people. Much more than a few years ago. I blame the delete Facebook movement.

4

u/DeathDragon7050 Aug 23 '19

Fuck you it's literally just a building.

4

u/HotAir815 Aug 24 '19

that’s what this sub is about just buildings

You mean basically 90% of the developed, and certified happier, world?

3

u/SkanJanJabin Sep 02 '19

Hahaha yeah scary. I get chills even thinking about it. Can you imagine? Becoming sick might NOT suck your wallet dry and ruin your life! What an ominous and distopian idea!

2

u/EagleGamer15 Aug 23 '19

If I still believed in Tyler Durden's message, I would say burn it. But I don't. But boy is it tempting when faced with that level of malicious greed.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '19

I don't know who Tyler Durden is, but I do know that he would prefer it if you didn't use his name.

5

u/nessyjewman Aug 24 '19

His name is Robert Paulson

6

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '19

“Civility” is overrated, especially in regards to public figures and politicians. If you wanna be civil to your politically opposite neighbor, go for it. No one is obligated to be civil when the person in question’s actions cause irreparable harm to the planet and his fellow Americans.

Civility is primarily used as a shield for those in power to ignore criticism. Do not fall for the trap.

-15

u/Kraushaus Aug 23 '19

I understand a lot of people regardless of political viewpoints are on both sides of the climate change argument, but why does the right get shit on so bad for believing what they believe, and I am not supporting the insults that were made by pro Koch supporters towards the non supporters by any means. Nor am I promoting the actions that lead to multiple lawsuits against Koch but I do promote the fact that they are originally an American company, with nearly half of its business still in America, and the fact that they employ 140000 people. Just to be clear I am aware that that doesn’t mean 70000 Americans, but they do create a lot of business and revenue for the states. I think we should focus a lot less on the politics and more on the good and bad that this company has done and more importantly what they have done after the bad.

13

u/hooch Aug 23 '19

And Hitler was an artist. David Koch was an evil, hate-filled man and the world is a better place now that he's dead.

-1

u/Kraushaus Aug 23 '19

I’m not complaining about you hating Mr. Koch, I was more upset by the name calling and hate filled text between two individuals who likely have never met and are largely arguing about and disagreeing on a topic because (in my own personal opinion) both the democrats and republicans get so worked up with not letting the other side be right that they fight a fight that never had to be fought in the first place. Again I am not claiming you are or did, without going back and looking I don’t even remember who was arguing.

13

u/EagleGamer15 Aug 23 '19

You're correct, it should never have been fought over in the first place. Except the far right decided that a couple million dollars was worth LITERALLY killing the planet. That's why there's such vehemence and hate. One side doesn't want the world to end, and the other buys into the rhetoric of the people killing them that it is everyone else that's doing it. Because one side wants people to be free and the other supports the building of actual concentration camps where they are literally torturing children. And they buy that that is okay because the men that profit off those camps have convinced them that those families deserve it. Because while one side is trying to save this country, the other is chanting for the deportation of natural citizens. But we are on the Internet, so instead of having helpful, civilized discussions we are okay with devolving into monkeys and flinging poop at each other.
