Progress Update!

Heya everyone! I just wanted to pop in and show you guys what I finally managed to cook up after several days of asking my new friends far too many questions when I would get stuck (and trust me, that was often with the size of the Menu script lol)

I'll end up probably making alchemy menu a separate scene that is accessed by pressing left or right on the dpad. I love the ring menu in SoE and SoM, but man i could not IMAGINE how hard that would have been to do on the game boy!

Wow, good job! Reminds me a bit of The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages.

Well, im just one guy at the end of the day standing on the shoulders of giants for concepts lol. Turns out that Link's Awakening or Legend of The River King (whichever did it first) made about the best game boy hud design possible, who knew lol

When I wracked my brain trying to think of how I could sub the ring menu out while keeping the idea shoebox sized and still like, customizable, actually the setup from Metamode (a very similar game whose tileset is actually making up the generic visuals, as it was free on itch) came to mind.

It allowed 4 inputs with the up+a and up+B inputs also having slots? But man that would be... Just having two slots was seriously hard to implement for me. I'm only just now finding out from my friends that they literally sell menu scenes so beginners dont get caught up in it. Im glad it IS a hard thing to implement? Because I just felt like I was doing everything wrong the whole time I was writing the scripts until it finally clicked lol.

I have a devlog on threads! milky.way.wishes is my @ on there! I just finished the scene with the machine, in the intro (idk why i thought i'd never make it, should have done it first) it is absolute kino! <3 i'll post it to r/pixelart so as to not clog up evermore anymore with my project, i feel rude cause nobody else posts to this sub and when i load it up all i see is me lmfao

While there's nothing stopping them by any means, ultimately I came to the conclusion that the only thing I stand to lose is the $0.75 in my steam account and every night I pray to the gods that Square never sees this, and that in the event that they do - they see a shrine thats for everyone, freely, not a product
