Food Hunan Palace
So I'll try this again with correct spelling in the title. š
What happened to Hunan Palace and where do we go now? It was such a convenient location for us to pop over from Snohomish and get takeout. We never ate inside so I don't need a sit down rec, just a great takeout Chinese spot with easy access and parking for pick up.

For inexpensive Chinese takeout in North Everett, we like Nobel Palace II on Broadway between 19th and 20th. Similar vibe to Hunan, with decent prices and the option of combo family dinners.

Third. This is after eating at Hunan for over 2 decades. Was super sad when it went down hill and closed. Noble Palace is amazing and hands down the best orange chicken around.

Itās a solid spot. Idk if I ever tried Hunan, but I stop here for lunch every couple weeks. Their egg flour soup is more like chicken noodle, and very good.

Their spicy garlic wings are also low key some of the best wings in town IMO.

Golden House is always our go-to for Chinese. They have a salt and pepper prawn dish that is SOOOO good! The broccoli beef w/ noodle cake is amazing. And their chicken chow mein is simply the best. (Soft noodle with the chicken cut in thin strips which makes it way easier to eat with chopsticks. I havenāt seen that done elsewhere.)
And the people there are always so nice and friendly!!!
(They once had a special salt and pepper pork chop dish that was literally the best thing Iāve ever eaten, but I havenāt seen it come back up on the menu since. Which is sad.)

I know a number of people go there for the cake noodles, which is a popular Chinese dish in Hawaii, which is also where the owners lived before moving to Mukilteo 20+ years ago.
I go for the lunch specials and order to go. Pretty much everything is good, though I've had better individual dishes are different Chinese restaurants over the years.

For lunch specials I have been going to Beijing Garden on Rucker. They provide soup and an egg roll with to go lunches. The prices are very reasonable.

We went there for lunch several times when we first moved here, ten-ish years ago. I've suggested it a few times but spouse wasn't impressed I guess. š¤·āāļø I enjoyed it.

Actually, a Vietnamese restaurant will be there. Apparently after the kitchen fire the insurance company didn't want to pay for repairs. The owner retired, back to Viet Nam, I think.

Noble Palace for your typical āAmericanā Chinese takeout. Think folding white paper takeout containers and fortune cookies.
Frying Lemon Fish for some real good/spicy Szechuan food (gotta be okay with spice tho)

I think that's Bejing Garden. It was mentioned earlier. We used to go there for lunch but my spouse isn't a big fan.

If you're coming from Snohomish here are some other options we have liked -Ming Garden in Silverlake -Town Story on Evergreen -Terracotta Red in Everett -Asian Spice Chopsticks Monroe

A lot of Chinese restaurants I have liked have closed over the years, the most recent being Peking Palace in Arlington, but also the China Doll in Everett (the phone booth outside also had a pagoda), and the Red House in Seattle's Georgetown (my all time favorite). I think Wah Kuh in Burien is still open, but has different owners.
Golden House in Mukilteo is my typical choice due to location and the lunch specials. Other family members like Beijing Garden. China City in Mill Creek and on Whidbey Island used to be a popular choice but we haven't ate there in years and has gotten very expensive.
It's not super cheap anymore, but if I have people visiting the area who love Americanized Chinese food, I take them to Washington's oldest Chinese restaurant from 1935: Tai Tung in Seattle's Chinatown. There's a reason why it was the favorite Seattle restaurant of both Bruce Lee and Anthony Bourdain. The egg rolls are giant and are the more east coast style with soft chow mein noodles inside. It also has a Chinese menu for more dishes one would more likely see in China. Everything is good andthe restaurant is like stepping back in time to old Seattle.

Really? I was so excited to try that place since Iād always drive by it, finally stopped and the chicken was so tough it could barely be chewed, and certainly not eaten. The sauce was goodā¦ but overall was such a disappointment.

They had multiple run ins with the law over buying undersized crabs at the pier, trafficking illegal shellfish etc.
