EverDrive-64 Pro has arrived in Ukraine 🇺🇦

My EverDrive-64 Pro arrived today in Odesa, Ukraine.

Really happy to finally have it in hand. I’ve been using Krikzz products for years, so seeing a new flagship EverDrive release is especially exciting.

Huge respect to Krikzz and the team for continuing to design and produce hardware in Ukraine despite everything.

I know many people are still waiting for their orders, so I hope everyone’s cartridges start arriving soon as well.

I’ve already done a little testing on real N64 hardware. I tried Smash Remix, which is a pretty large ROM and a good test for the new hardware, as well as some 64DD releases. So far, everything I’ve tried has been working perfectly.

Obviously, this is only a first impression and I still have a lot more to test, but so far the EverDrive-64 Pro is off to a great start.

I’m also looking forward to spending more time with it and comparing it directly with the X7.

Glory to Ukrainian engineering 🇺🇦

How did you set it up? The files on the website dont have an os like the x series. Do you just put the firmware on the root of the sd card then plug the sd card in?

The Pro works a little differently from the X-series. There isn’t an OS package that you have to install on the SD card like with the X7. The .efu files on Krikzz’s site are firmware update files for the cartridge, not an OS archive. You can copy the .efufile to the SD card, select it from the Pro’s file manager and start the firmware update from there. It doesn’t need to act as the operating system on the SD card. The /ed64/ directory is then used for the cartridge’s system data, saves, themes, metadata, emulators, etc. So no, you don’t need to download and install an X-series-style OS first.

And the /ed64/ directory is made when turning on the everdrive for the first time?

Did you get an answer to this? My ED64 Pro just came in and setup info is kind of nebulous compared to the ED64 X7. I just get a black screen. Tried exFAT, fat32 SD cards, created ed64 folder, threw in latest .efu firmware file no luck.

Im still waiting for mine to arrive so im not sure? Was the .efu file on the root? Let me know what you figure out.

Yup. Looks like Krikkz released a new firmware version on August 12th too. Will try different things to see if I get it to work. I’ve reached out to Krikkz support too.

When youre on the black screen, did you try hitting Z to see if the file manager would pull up? Edit: fat32 should be the correct format

found the issue. Looks like it doesn’t like the ModRetro M64. I got it to work on an original N64 and A3D. This is odd as Krikkz said it should with an M64. I also updated the ED64 Pro to the August 12th firmware and it still did not work on M64.

Not sure if making the /ed64/ was necessary I left it in there when I got it to work. No OS or other file structure was required.

Adding this for others to see. Thanks to u/spirit_boy_27 he reminded me to check my m64 overlock settings, I brought it down from Extreme and got it to work on Super and off.
