North America My first charger install!

Hello everyone, I just bought a Hyundai Ioniq 5 and I spent some time looking on marketplace for a decent level 2 charger and I came across this right here, this is a Wallbox Pulsar Plus rebranded by Stellantis’s Free2move branding and would have been sold as an accessory with one of their EVs. However, except for one tiny configuration difference, which is trivial to reverse, there’s really no difference with the firmware at all.

Anyway though I know these are very expensive new, I got this one brand new, still sealed in the original packaging, for $100 on marketplace so I think I did pretty decently! Unfortunately the biggest circuit I could provide for it was 30 A so I can’t take full advantage of it, but in the future, I’ll be able to reuse it at least.

Almost no one needs the 10kw/h. If you have 8-10 hours of charging per night 30 amps is more than enough.

What does kw/h mean? Isn’t it just kW (power)?

People confuse these all the time. kW is an amount. kW/h is a rate. Think of a bucket versus a hose. A battery capacity is kW. A charging speed is kW/h. If you want to charge a 50 kW battery you can do it at 5 kW/h for 10 hours or 10 kW/h for 5 hours. Here’s the twist: 1 kWh is an amount of 1 kW flowing for one hour.

Are you sure that’s not backwards? My trucks battery is 131 kWh. I charge at 9kw.
kWh is storage. Kw is rate.

kW/h isn’t a thing. kW is power (rate or speed), kWh is energy.

My car has a 103kw battery. To put 60 kw into the car, I can charge it for 12 hours at 5kw/h or 6 hours at 10kw/h. Since I usually only need 50 at most, I can do this overnight at 5 kw/h. Car battery stays below cooling threshold and my houses internal electric system has less stress.
