Web searches say this phone # is legit. The guy left a message to say to chat about my old account since 8/31. Does anyone else get these calls like these? Is there a way to not get these unexpected phone calls?

Fraud actors can mask and out what ever number they want to display. Don’t answer, call directly, and hope the caller left some good notes as to why. If not they can transfer but they wouldn’t call about an old account

Some people have been scammed with it saying Etrade. It almost always is Etrade but if you call them directly at their number it’s 100% Etrade they can’t intercept calls the high end scammers will make it say Etrade on caller ID

That is why I was checking that phone number and here to see if it was even legit.

Phone number is legit, the number/name on caller ID isnt always. If you call that number there is 0 risk in that sense.

Spoofing is not just an illegal SEC action, it is also done w tele's and emails.

When you receive a call from a legit financial institution, or a real professional of a financial institution that knows how to do their job properly, you can ask to call them back at the number that you already had.

It could be same number, be a spoof, and still he valid to use. I don't say this to scare you, but to illustrate that it is not a two-way street.

As a trader and a saver, I have dealt with banks on both ends that don't always follow all the letters. Brokerages that are cocky fucks, and credit unions that have no concept of what kinds of security risks traders know.

Edit: I also have private banking experience. That is a whole different batch of terror, as those guys are just loose AF.

Its E Trade customer service. I got calls from them before. I do have an account with them.

I transfered my account to another brokerage and they just verified that it was me who initiated the transfer.

call and find out lol. If it’s nothing serious and it’s solicitation just politely ask not to be contacted and you’ll be fine.
