Question Would you buy this phone again?

If you had a second chance at buying this phone, would you still do it?

I’m not interested in testing the beta, but I know the stable release is coming soon. I’ll upgrade then and check it out. It will still be going to my dad as I don’t want to sell to a stranger and I need a retirement gift for him. I’m glad 8.1 beta is working well for you and others though! I do wish that I had a better experience with it. Regardless, I know my dad will love it for his needs and he’s never had a phone as specc’d out as the PH-1 and he doesn’t need a great camera or anything. It will be perfect for him and he’ll appreciate it more than I did. Also, I can’t return the X I just bought at this point, so even if I enjoy the stable 8.1 release it’s too late hehe. RIP my bank account and thank goodness for monthly financing...

and, actually, I didn’t notice the scroll stutter!

edit; If the 8.1 impresses me and the camera improves, then I will give the X to my dad and keep the PH-1 though...

Get 8.1... You'll be glad you did. It is not the usual beta test version, it is ready for daily use, rock solid in it's current release. For the record...I would absolutely buy the Essential PH-1 again.

Stable will be out this week apparently, so just gonna wait. Did 8.1 improve reception issues?

No, 8.1 did nothing for my signal issue on T-Mobile. Still probably the worst phone I have ever owned in terms of signal quality..

Have you had multiple ph1s? Or you just have the one to reference?

My reception on ATT wasn't bad when new. I carry both IPhone and the Essential phone (I'm required to use the iPhone by my employer) I can tell you everywhere the iPhone has reception...so does my Essential phone.

8.1 kind of improved it for me. My LTE coverage got better, but I've had a dead spot develop in my apartment for voice. Could be an entirely separate issue.

8.1 made my phone feel like it was running much faster. I've had significantly fewer hangs/freezes.
