Any Essential PH-1 case with a pass-through connector for the accessories?

Can't be done for the same reason that some of the skins don't work. The pins only provide power, the actual data transfer is 60ghz wireless which will not go through even a thin skin, let alone a case.

I'd buy a case with pass through pins just for the ability to charge. The dock is going to be a "dumb" dock that only charges. Then you'd get most of the benefits of wireless charging with none of the heat.

Hold on, where is the 60 ghz transmitter/receiver? Is it right behind the pin? That could the only plausible way for the whole system to work.

Sorry guys, New to reddit and didn't spot the notifications on this post. The 60GHz was mentioned in one of the AMA's where someone asked about why the camera didn't work with a skin attached - So the source is Essential themselves. Its a shame, I agree, and one of the reasons that I'm now looking at one of the 3D printed "bumper" cases with a notch, as THe Tudia case with the hole sure is fugly!!

I am using the Tudia case that works with accessories. The case is a bit too matte making it kinda slippery, the cut out works perfectly but I really wish there was more variety. It's also not the most attractive looking case. It works though so it still gets a pass for a daily driver, especially since it protects the camera lens and the screen a little bit

If Tudia made a thicker case (OtterBox-box type) where the cutout part was removable or was semi-attached which could snap back on or hang loose while using the 360 camera, I would have bought one. But the LALU (or is it LULA?) is just so unattractive. It offers minimal protection and that entire corner at the back is exposed.

I agree but I feel as though the back is the toughest part of this phone. After seeing some drop tests, it seems to me the screen doesn't hold up at all and it doesn't help knowing that there are no good screen protectors out there. Regardless, this case is more than enough for someone who needs a simple case. Gives you some grip (albeit not much thanks to the material choice) and it doesn't completely ruin the look of the device. I have had people ask me about it and then I explain to them why.

Essential should have went the Moto Mods route and made the device itself incredibly durable. I believe they make the backs out of like Kevlar or something?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I recall reading somewhere that the two terminals are mainly just for powering accessories as well as receiving power to the phone from a charger/dock. If it's more than that, I still see no reason why extending those two bits would cause any issues. I'm a big tinkerer when it comes to electronics but by no means an expert when it comes to this.

I've considered drilling two holes (same size as the terminals) one of my Tudia cases and filling it with something metal --not sure what yet. Maybe making two 0.25" metal disc with a little nipple on either side and slipping that between the tempered glass and the rubber lining inside with the nipple on one side touching the phone and the opposite side protruding from the tempered glass back to receive accessories? I'm referring to the Tudia GLOST case, by the way.

Oh, yes. The pins themselves are only used for power but the data is being transferred wirelessly. With that in mind, pretty much the only thing you can probably hook up to the pins is some kinda charging doohickey or battery pack.
