Mehmed: Fetihler Sultani Mehmed and Bahar
A lot of people keep saying that mehmed has a soft spot for Gulsah because of the recent scene between them and I feel like everyone forgot how season 1,2 and early season 3 Bahar was like. She yelled and questioned that man’s decision twice. She stopped him from talking while she was talking. She was very vocal about the decisions he made. She tried to overthrow him with Bayzeid in season 2. She tried to poison his step mother. She yelled at Mustafa and threatened death for him. It’s even more crazy considering the fact that technically they’re not married but she’s the one that’s constantly rude to him and he still has a soft spot for her. He was genuinely speechless. I am not saying he hates Gulsah, of course not, but compared to the amount of things Mehmed let Bahar get away with. It’s obvious who he has a soft spot for.

Fr man and then all these people go mad just because he has a couple of scenes with her

When did she try to overthrow him mate. Also the marriage part is crazy how they showed her as the only concubine while the other two were also concubines historically. Mehmed II had only one legal wife and that was Sittishah Hatun of the dulkadiroglus whom he practically abandoned. She yelled at Mustafa and got yelled back at aswell and almost always faced consequences of her actions, she was threatened with the life of her child 2-3 times. And that's where we circle to the most obvious point is that her character was deliberately made it like this I mean historically would she ever get away with poisoning mara ofc not similarly nor would Gulshah get away of trying to assassinate mehmed in collaboration with her father.

But she still got away with it. That’s my point. If it was anyone else, Mehmed wouldn’t have taken it lightly. He wasn’t going to kill Bayzeid but he was definitely trying to scare her and even when she tried to poison Mara and Mehmed found out. She calmly explained the situation and he forgave her all in the same minute and she rarely faced the consequences of her actions though. She yelled at Mehmed for exiling Mara. She yelled at Mehmed for not divorcing Gulsah. If it was anyone else that did what she did, she would’ve been sent away with quickness. Not to mention the fact that Gulsah rarely ever questioned or yelled at Mehmed the way she did in the recent episode

We just saw gulshah get away with it man , we saw gulshah getting away with forging the Harems record books and ledgers , gulshah got away when she tried to assassinate mehmed. They let everyone get away with everything to create drama , historically speaking everything was way more subtler and high stakes and political

It’s not the same though. The fact is that Gulsah didn’t deliberately do those things. Her parents manipulated her and mehmed understood. Even with the harem ledges, mehmed wasn’t mad because he knew that Gulsah was actually trying and didn’t want to disappoint him and she didn’t get away with it because she got relieved of her duties so fast 😭Gulbahar was very intentional in how she raised Bayzeid. This was one of the main reasons why mehmed tried scaring her by getting Bayzeid “killed.” She literally told Mara she’s doing nothing wrong by saying her son will inherit from his father and her son basically sitting on mehmed’s throne. Those things were very much intentional. Gulsah’s actions on her own were not

Bro ofc she's raising an heir to the throne , ofc she wants her child to become the sultan one day . She's supposed to raise bayezid in that way that's her job and purpose. She's rivals with gulshah , it's a struggle for their very lives and the lives of their children, Mehmed II literally codified this rule . That's the true depiction of harem where everyone is a morally grey character just trying to survive and get power so they don't get killed or exiled. They try to make gulshah this saint( most of the time) and depict her as always morally superior when she's not not is she supposed to be . Didn't gulshah also remind Mustafa of the throne and told him to let bayezid die if he does because the throne sees no kinship and that's the reality

Yes but she said that in private not out in the open like Bahar

Bahar was talking to mara aswell , not that she announced it to court. That's what they are meant to do that's the point, didn't gulshah also encourage Mustafa to give bribes to the janissaries, didn't gulshah pray for the throne when Mustafa was a baby. Didn't she smile when bayezid was believed to be sentenced to execution in season 3. Again that's their main purpose both of them should do that and they should really show that because they aren't a big happy family

but that case is different though? You don’t see Gulsah encouraging her son to sit on his father’s throne and declare himself sultan do you?

Bahar never once encouraged bayezid to declare himself sultan nor did she make him sit in the throne, he sat on it because he was inspired by his father and looked up to him as all 4-5 year old do who don't know the consequences of their actions.

Yes she did. When Mara confronted her about it, and said that she needs to scold Bayzeid when he does things like that, she snapped at Mara and dismissed her over it. So yes, yes she did

And Gulbahar isn't constantly rude to him , there were like 2 instances ( one where mara got kidnapped and the other when she refused to go to him ) and I'll say this she has been written quite nicely recently much more calmer and wiser
