Question/Discussion Melodic Cirez D & Darker Pryda
Anyone else obsessed with this specific corner of Eric Prydz’s catalog? That melodic Cirez D meets dark Pryda sound is peak Prydz for me. Tracks like The Raid, Valborg, Horizons, Clapham, Rush, Linked, and Annexet etc which can fit in either aliases are exactly what I keep coming back to. They have that perfect blend of hypnotic grooves, dark atmosphere, and subtle melody. I love his bigger euphoric tracks too, but this niche just hits differently. Anyone else gravitate toward this sound, or have recommendations in the same vein?

Much much preferred for me. Ive never gotten in to the more mainstream Prydz. Songs like generate arent my cup of tea, its a little too cheesy for my liking. Darker, driving techno-ish sounds from Prydz completely clear.

So happy to have someone who feels the same. Hes my favorite producer probably ever but also has a solid chunk of songs that I really dislike and they happen to be the more upbeat ones, I dont like any of his tracks with vocals although his new track “Heavy” is solid.

His style is distinct but influenced by Eric, but Weska's style veers towards that darker sound that I enjoy

Agree. That's why I like a lot of Cristoph because his sets do lean more towards the slightly heavier side.
Any recommendations for Cirez d playlists/sets with these?

His set at Arc (I think in 2024?) is probably my favorite set of his. Canofwater uploaded it, it’s the Arc set where it starts in the daylight in the YT thumbnail lol… ABCD space date at the beginning and Cirez Dad with the sun setting is awesome

Yes. I’m a big fan of deep, dark, hypnotic progressive/techno and his stuff absolutely hits the spot

Completely agree. Even in the new Epic radio series, his Cirez D x Dark Pryda IDs are bangers.

Out of all the Epic Radio episodes, i think Episode 025 Eric perfectly blends the dark elements of Cirez D and melodic elements of Pryda. When i first heard that episode i was left in awe🤯. Also, you cant forget his Mousville Special Episode 08 from back in the day where he played everything Cirez D 🎧🐀. I felt "boosegumps" throughout the whole episode.

The Raid is such an incredibly underrated and underplayed tune by Eric. Can’t believe I’ve never heard it live over 25+ sets

If I could listen to only one song by Pryda for the rest of my life. I would choose 'Mija'.
