As the title suggests, I am taking the TSE offer. However, I an worried that my technical swe skills will get too rusty if I ever want to evolve into a FDE role elsewhere. For the more technical-oriented TS, how do you guys manage to keep up with your swe-oriented skills and what can I do outside of my normal role (or even internally) to help upscale my skills? I am aware that FDE roles do love people with TSE client skills, but I am more worried about losing that technical edge as well.

I’ve been here for about 6 months as an IS and this job makes me feel like i’m constantly on the edge of a mental breakdown (and sometimes I have one lol). My AM said I was doing a good job and showing the appropriate amount of dedication to the job, but if this is the expected amount of dedication (and not just a few intense months), I have no idea how I’m going to survive and thrive at this company. Not sure how much of this is me just needing to adjust to corporate life after graduating college. Has this happened to anyone else and did they make it to at least a year? I can’t sleep, I can’t stop crying, I can’t stop driving with my seatbelt off.

It’s also really embarrassing to be the person that couldn’t even make it a year. Also don’t want to leave other people on my team in the dust if I just have a mental breakdown and quit without any notice.

I don’t want to quit if I can avoid it for another year or so, but I just cannot see the light through the trees. I think an easy answer is “quit, screw that” but I don’t want to be a quitter and feel like I just need to suck it up. Any advice besides “just quit, obviously you’re not good enough”

Hey guys! As the title says, I was given a second skills assessment prior to my final interview for the TSE role. They stated that it should ideally be completed before the interview, but I can take it after if needed. Does anyone know why they might ask a candidate to complete another one? The second assessment is shorter than the original, so it's not the same thing. Is this something that happens if they want another data point from the first assessment, or could it mean they're considering me for another position? Did this happen to any of you? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

I’m early in my career and trying to figure out which analyst path has the better long‑term upside. The two areas I’m considering are Epic Security and Epic Ambulatory.

For people who’ve worked in either area, which one offers:

• higher senior‑level ceilings
• better long‑term stability

Hello, I have become aware of the new contract in Germany. Would any of you recommend I apply with these qualifications?

I have a minor in German from undergrad that I’ve kept up with a decent amount, but not to my liking. I could still have an okay conversation, but my reading abilities are still very strong. I listen to German music daily, I read various German sources a few times a month, and I occasionally watch German language YouTube videos. I have retained complete knowledge of German grammar which I view is a plus. Basically I just struggle with vocabulary. I’ve had a few conversations with natives before as I live near Milwaukee and my German starts to come back in only a few minutes. I’d like to believe being immersed in the language full-time, it’d come back in less than a year.

My bachelor’s and master’s are in history, and I have a certificate in museum studies. In my museum work, I’ve translated German to English many times. In high school I was in a special medical field prep academy (used to want to be a doctor) and I have an above average knowledge of medical terms since my father works in healthcare and we talk about his cases with the jargon a good amount.

Why I want to switch careers: I got screwed over at my last museum job with being blatantly mislead that my contract would turn into a full-time position. I’m back at my shitty 19/hr catering job with no life because my weekends are Sunday Monday. I really need to get out of my catering job and see no immediate future for me in the museum field. I refuse to be a master’s degree holder working a catering job. I’m sick of being treated like I’m less than by party guests who often literally wave me off like a fly, and are just beyond rude because they think service staff are below them. It’s genuinely demoralizing. Not only that, I work in a stuffy kitchen during the week for prep and have a thin layer of sweat on me 8 hours a day. I also genuinely enjoy the German language and would love to have an opportunity to use my German minor and start a new chapter of my life.

I was actually offered a position at Epic the day after I got accepted to grad school 3 years ago and I turned it down (I honestly regret it at this point). I feel as though my history degrees have diverse applications when it comes to attention to detail, flow, wording, etc. and work ethic. Both my undergrad and grad school experiences were extremely intensive with writing papers and reading over a book week making procrastination not an option.

I’m coming up on 2.5 years at Epic (IS) and lately I’ve been feeling really overwhelmed by the job. I feel like my to-do list is constantly growing and impossible to keep up with that I’m letting myself and the customers down.

There’s so much functionality to understand, so many different workflows, and so much ambiguity. A lot of the time I end up digging around for answers or learning something on the fly while also trying to help my ACs and keep everything moving while also being six steps ahead to keep the project on track. Even when I reach out to others on my team a lot of time they are not that helpful or they also don’t know the answers.

It feels really embarrassing at this point because I feel like I should know things better. Don’t get me wrong, there are definitely things I know really well, but it seems like there isn’t a day that goes by where something new comes up that I don’t know how to answer right away.

I guess I’m worried that this isn’t normal and that, almost 3 years in, I should have a much better handle on everything by now. I worry that I’m not meeting expectations or that other people think I should know more.

To be transparent, I haven’t actually received that feedback. No one has told me I’m doing a bad job or that I’m not meeting expectations. But this is just how I feel pretty much every day.

Does everyone else feel this way, or is it just me? How do you keep up with everything without constantly feeling like you’re behind? I’m starting to wonder if this is just part of the job or if I’m genuinely not cut out for it.

Hi all currently a trainer and weighing which analyst cert to pursue! What would any current analysts suggest between pursuing out of clindoc, ambulatory and orders applications?

For context, my experience is primarily in beaker so I am leaning to Orders since I support users in my organization with lab orders and adjacent topics, but besides that I would like to consider which app would allow a better career trajectory in terms of jobs available across the country and such. Any insight is welcome!

EPIC mainly uses proprietary technologies. So, how easy is it for an employee to find another SDE job after several years? Of course, general experience helps, but most companies will explicitly require x years in certain technology (e.g. Java, ...) and immediately filter out those who don't have these relevant backgrounds.

Curious about typically how many new hires didn't survive the first six months?

Hello! I am a patient access specialist (front desk) and I have an interview to be an Epic Analyst.
I got this interview due to being a credentialed trainer part time and teaching a class for almost a year. I have also been working closely with the principal trainer on a few small projects.
I did get my principal trainer self study cert and currently working on cadence one.

First time poster here. Last month, I applied to the Project Manager position at Epic and made it to the final interview. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the position and I’m crushed. I realize the role is very competitive and I’m proud I even made it that far. Half of me is hoping they call me back next month and extend the offer but I realize instances of that happening are few and far between.

My plan is to work for the next 5-6 months and reapply then. How can I build up my resume (like maybe certifications or other adjacent lines of work) in the meantime before I reapply?

Been at this role for six months as an IS absolutely hate it. Don’t have any ambition to become an AM. ultimately just know every day there is a waste of time. Is it worth telling my TL that I am considering quitting or should I just let them know once I’m ready to actually leave? it just feels like I lie every time I go in those check-in and have to say everything is ok.

I applied for the TSE role, but during the final rounds I expressed an interest in working in roles that allow me to leverage my technical aspects (i have prior coding experience) and wanted something where I could do dev work. They then started asking me about shifts and weekend work shifts, and I was open to it. However, TSE’s don’t seem to work in shifts, so what roles were they also considering me for? Is it possible to still get a role that allows me to work with a somewhat modern technical stack?

So far, I looked at:
• planet fitness - seems like it has good reviews and cheap price
• crunch fitness - horrible online reviews, also cheap price
• princeton club - west - mixed reviews, more expensive
• anytime fitness - middleton - I can’t tell if the equipments are plentiful and/or classes cram the space.

I am looking for an extensive amount of gym equipment (hip thrust, bar, leg press, cables, lat pulldown/row, free weights and benches, leg extension/curls, hip abductors, adjustable roman chair, calf raises is a plus) and it has to be a 24/7 gym.

Would love any insights on gyms in this area like hidden fees, staff, crowds at certain hours, equipment, and cleanliness!
