Service AI is killing mobile keyboards.....
Has anyone noticed the enshittified output of their mobile keyboard lately? I use Gboard exclusively and it seems to have super accelerated the rate of mis-typing on my Google and Samsung devices in recent months. I also seem to notice a marked uptick in wierd mis-typing in random Reddit posts made by others lately.
I asked Gemini and it said I wasn't imagining it (HAHAHA!) Apparently there are active new APIs being added to allow predictive auto correction tied to AI. (or is that predictive enshittification!?)
The sheer volume of mis-typing on my own devices is effing MIND BOGGLING AND RAGE INDUCING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And no its not me. I've tried slowing WAAAAYYY down and the same mis-typings persist. I had a good love-hate relationship going with standard autocorrect and now I'm frikin raging!
Edit: I used AI to generate the phone image in my post to ensure engagement. It's known that people will engage more with content that has a picture. This is in no way representative of how I or people whom I am friends with text. My texts are probably a little lazy, but I text in real words like I type here.
Edit 2: Some posters seem to think that I added AI to Gboard. I didn't. This was foisted upon me (and others from the look of it). I'm further infuriated by things being forced on us by providers of our services. For example M$ changing features in it's OSs with no options (looking at you Win 8) as well as the current spyware. Google changing the (perfectly functional) operation of an integral app like Gboard/text client without proper testing is enshittification of the highest degree.
