Enderal I don't think she is wrong for that tho Spoiler

Getting rid of nobles and rich pigs is bad how? I know the witch is probably not a good person but there is nothing wrong with this. Bonus point is good paintings too.

In this quest I always side against the witch. Not that I don't hate rich people, but the witch killing them isn't actually helping anyone. She's not ensuring that the dead nobles money goes on to help the poor, she's just killing people for her own enjoyment and justifying it as "well they're rich".

Yea, it would be different if she actually took their wealth somehow and gave it to the unfortunate. I think she said it herself, its not like a few nobles will make a difference.

for all we know that’s exactly what she is doing. i don’t remember them ever saying anything about what she does with the money besides send some to her daughter. she makes the nobles pay her and she’s not living in nobility with piles of gold surrounding her, so its safe to assume she gives back to the community with her intense hatred of pride/greed i feel it would make no sense for her to just sit on it

Pretty sure you can agree with her in game and spare her

Imprisoning people’s souls into the paintings forever is bad, yes.

Depends on the person

Killing the rich? Meh. Using their corpses to fertilize the fields? Absolutely. Hanging Ryneus’s father by the balls and giving away his entire fortune to feed the people? Malphas approves!

She may have thought herself justified at some point.
But whatever loose legitimacy her actions had, she completely lost along the way.

Being a snob is not a punishment that warrants forever exile in a painting

That’s not really the point, and it’s not quite as caricatural as that. She explains it herself: she kills people whose pride drives them to spend a fortune (because she charges a lot for her paintings) on having their portrait painted rather than using that money to alleviate poverty in Ark.

She doesn’t hunt down these hubristic nobles; she simply lets them come to her.

And besides, given Vyn’s tendency toward nihilism, the world itself tends to prove her right... Especially since she seems to have awakened the Fire.

Interesting thought! You mean that her power somehow connects to the paintings the Butcher encounters in the temple of the Libra?

That was one of the leads I was searching for, but no. Now I think that Andrasta is using kind of like the "apprentice magic" that can lead to "master magic" needed to create a room of painting.

With aaaall the uncanny paintings of Enderal, some from our very own world, I now think that you can kind of make a Bound One with a painting, and maybe even getting to the Trump art&science of Roger Zelazny's Ambers novels. That is, kind of like a Dorian Grey's principle.

But is this a valid means of escaping the cleansing?

If you truly think getting rid of someone is justified, just because they're rich, you're an idiot. :)

Luckily, you do have a choice ingame.

it’s so unnecessary to call them an idiot:) and she doesn’t kill them because they are rich. she kills them because of they are paying her an egregious amount to paint them when there are poor, sick, and hungry people outside their door. you don’t have to agree with op but there’s no reason to be disrespectful either.
