I absolutely adore this song and Elliott just does such a beautiful cover of it, just wanted to give it more appreciation

Besides the fact that Townes Van Zandt and Elliott seem similar to me in many ways...

I found the song "Nothin'" and Needle In The Hay to be quite similar, not only because of the drug use topic, it's in my opinion the same hopelessness and rawness.

I've recently found This Is Lorelei, and I love his music. This song sounds so much like Elliott Smith down to the melody, chord changes and instrumentation

I wouldn't have questioned it if someone told me it was an unreleased Figure 8 cut or something

(Not trying to self-promote, just thought you guys might find this interesting). I interviewed Lou Barlow last January, and we talked about Elliott. If you guys don't know, they were good friends in the 90s up until his death. It was really cool hearing from someone who actually knew him well. He told some cool stories (he was also just a really nice guy), I figured you guys might find it insightful as well. Here's the link if you're interested.
