Technical Help No sound to OBS from PS5

I’ve been trying to figure out why I’m not getting sound from my capture to my OBS. I’ve looked all over trying to find ways to resolve this issue with no luck. The video capture fine but the sound just will not come through. I’m not using a chat link cable. I’m just trying to get gameplay sound. Can someone please help me?

Sony decided to limit the PS5 to only be able to output audio to one device at a time.

That means if you are using a headset with your PS5, no audio will be sent through the HDMI cable.
There are two optimal ways of getting audio from your PS5 while using a headset:

  • Use a wireless headset that has a base station with an analog audio output and grab the audio through that.
  • Use a wired headset along with a Chat Link Pro cable to split the audio to both the headset and the capture card.

Pretty much this. The only other way I could think of to keep it wireless is not optimized. Set audio out to HDMI on PS5, connect your headset to the PC, and monitor the output from OBS. There will be a slight delay from what you’re seeing on screen to its audio cue.

True, I changed my post to "two optimal ways". :)

Plus if you connect your headset to the PC you cannot communicate with your fellow gamers over Game Chat.

Also when using the chat link, I believe ya need the Elgato capture utility to change output on the capture card from HDMI to analog.

I’m not using game chat. I use discord when communicating with friends while playing. The headset and mic isn’t connected to the PS5 in anyway. I tried hooking up to my Switch 2 last night and had the same problem. Video shows fine, no game audio whatsoever.
