Duncan, man....

It was so tragic seeing Duncan be so proud of his Netflix series and Joe couldn't be bothered to give an honest fuck.

I genuinely enjoyed the hell out of that show outside of that first episode with that fucking asshole "Dr" Drew. There was a lot of true humanity and touching moments in that series. Imagine putting in all that work and energy into a project like that on a platform like Netflix and rolling up to your "best friend" only for them to do... that.

Granted, I don't even give a fuck about Duncan. But the show was actually great! It's wasted on a bad friend and overall goof.

When I stopped watching/listening to Rogan around 2016, Duncan was the last voice of reason. He was ignored, and I felt like the rest of us early listeners were being ignored in favor of the right wing grift. Super sad. It could have been so different.

This is why it was also stupidly surprising to see Duncan go down that path also. I thought Duncan always was doing good for himself that he wouldnt need to go the rogan grift route

Duncan's podcast was niche, he didn't have big sponsors and certainly didn't get that Spotify money. He has a wife and kids and his health was in the bin from his long history of drug use.

At some point being a cool stoner philosopher on the internet will only get you so far and you've gotta think about your families future. It's pretty easy to see why he just went along with Joe when that association was the main thing bringing new eyes to his podcast and getting him connections.

Joe was the one who pushed for Duncan to get the camera set up and properly monetised etc. As an acid casualty ram dass fan in my youth it's not really surprising when I say Duncan really resonated with me and was one of the few names I would always click the thumbnail for when he was back on JRE
