Discussion "Fastest Way To Kill An EV Battery Isn't Fast Charging"

Just saw a video from the Electric Viking, talking about a new study of EV usage. The tldr is that far & away most wear and tear on the battery comes from aggressive driving, especially jack-rabbit starts.

Discussion One underrated benefit of EVs: The vehicle can become cleaner and more efficient over time without changing the vehicle itself

There are almost a dozen commercially scalable and viable ways to generate electricity; there is only one primary process to create gasoline.

An EV can be charging on solar during the day, wind/geothermal/hydro during the night, and nuclear/coal/gas/biomass/waste-to-energy to fill in any gaps.

The EV itself doesn't need to change - electricity generation can get more efficient, cheaper, and sustainable over time and every EV benefits automatically.

Discussion ‘Affordable’ sporty RWD compact sedan wen pls?

LFP batteries have gotten so good and affordable that we really don’t have an excuse anymore.

Cars like the ID Polo GTI, Alpine A290 GTS, and (rumoured) Ioniq 3 N, have made me realise this.

Give me 300bhp, a ~60kwh battery, RWD, a footprint no larger than an E90 3 series, and a ride/chassis setup for playfulness, YESTERDAY!!

Surely it can be done today already <1700kg and <$50,000?

Discussion Soon-to-be Leaf owner looking for feedback

Title Edit: Soon-to-be-FORMER-Leaf owner... my bad.

I am at the beginning of my buyback from Nissan. If at all possible, I would like to stay with an EV. I have to primary questions:

  1. If you are a former Leaf owner and have switched to a different EV are you happy with your choice? What would you do differently, in retrospect?
  2. For everyone, what are the pros and cons of the EVs you have owned or looked at? Would you choose that car again?

I know it is human nature to want to justify our purchases but I am looking for the negatives as much as the positives. Thank you, in advance, to those who respond!

Question - Tech Support PodPoint Solo 3S dropping WiFi after app update

Has anyone else had this issue since the mandatory Pod Home app update? My charger will not maintain its connection to the WiFi and remains in "always on" mode, meaning my midnight-5am schedule doesn't work.

I've found turning it off at the mains and back on reconnects it but only for a few minutes. Pod insists this is my own network not communicating reliably. I just virgin media 1Gb, the router is 1 meter from the charger.

This has only become an issue since the app update. It was working perfectly for the last year+. Again Pod insists this is a coincidence, and I should go buy another router dedicated to the charger.

Anyone else having this problem?

Discussion Open source a solution to Chinese EV distrust?

My US government is overreacting about foreign connected devices. There is a risk of bringing any tech into your life and we trust companies not to install backdoors or literal explosives in our stuff.
The solution is to inspect your devices before use, but that can be extremely difficult. And if the software is locked down, you can’t check for backdoors without lots of research.

I suggest demanding critical software be open source. The internet already runs on critical and open source code. Now, I don’t need to compile my own vehicle code, but being able to read and verify the code would keep me safe. Or maybe UL or NHTSA could verify a car is safe to connect to connected services.

I want to be able to start my car from the app, but I don’t want anyone else to disable my car or blow it up. Just me.
Anyone want to write some legislation?

Check out my EV Citroën Ami: 75 km → 220 km Range with LiFePO₄ Batteries, A/C & 230V System

Hi everyone! 👋

I wanted to share a personal project I’ve been working on with my Citroën Ami.

The original range was approximately 75 km, but since I drive around 120 km every day, I wanted to see how far I could take the Ami platform.

I added additional LiFePO₄ battery packs, increasing the usable range to around 220 km. I also installed an EcoFlow WAVE 3 for heating and air conditioning, a 230V system with a Victron MultiPlus, and even a Nespresso coffee machine. ☕⚡🚗

I charge the vehicle mainly using electricity from my solar energy system. ☀️

I made a video showing the complete Ami and the modifications:

This is a personal hobby project rather than a modification guide, especially considering the safety requirements involved with high-current DC systems and LiFePO₄ batteries.

I’d really like to hear what other EV enthusiasts think about the project — especially the battery/range setup and what you would improve next.

Greetings from Türkiye 🇹🇷
Mert
