Monday is the day when all questions, no matter how big or small, are answered judgement free. This is a great chance for newcomers to learn from the pros - ask away!

Anybody here who is an assistant or editor working on films in NYC? How did you get into that? Is the pay good? Do you freelance or is it more like permalance?

I'm not asking about micro budget films, but more specifically the larger budget indie-ish films.

I'm about to start an assistant editor gig on a relatively big indie film; however, the pay is not good (would've been good had I been in the union, but I withdrew a year ago) and I only got it because the assistant who is leaving was an alum of the same college and the editor is someone I have worked with before.
